I got a coupon out of the paper saying 20 bux a month. When I got in there and it was all said and done they wanted my 20 bux plus an extra sixty for their one time fees. Cheap enough I thought.\r
So far I've done three aerobics classes. The teachers have been doing HIGH IMPACT CARDIO for a long time, and I understand they are at an accoplished level because they've been training for years. Well the older overweight group that goes there to get our hearts healthy and lose a couple pounds are dying trying to keep up with you all. I swear the three different teachers I've had so far, Kelly, a black girl (a substitute) were jumping in the air longer than they were on the ground. \r
I read the afaa book on how to be a fitness instructor (but didn't get certified or take the test yet) and it teaches the Instructor that they are to take into consideration the level that the students are at. No one there says go at your own pace. No one says always listen to your body. They are jumping around doing super high impact cardio (because that's the level they are at) and basically putting on a show saying look at me, look at what I can do! I swear the black girl who subbed for Zumba was doing super intricate salsa dancing, every song for the entire hour was extremely fast music and jumping. Me and the other women were just looking at her, lost. Not to mention she didn't talk or call out the next sequence of dance moves. I can stand up there and dance and show off and say ok just follow me. That is easy. All the teachers need to realize we are all beginners, and we are there to improve our cardio (our hearts) and lose a couple pounds. None of us are at the high impact levels of the teachers. I am not gaining anything from the three classes I have been to. The only message I am getting is you'll never keep up with us. Does any of the teachers remember what they felt like when they first started aerobics? Please have some consideration for the low impact beginners in your classes that haven't been doing this for years and are out of shape. I will not get in shape or get my heart in shape trying to keep up with a teacher jumping up and down for an hour.
Pros: cheap monthly cost
Cons: hidden fees
