So you're visiting ""The Biggest Little City In The World"", but which hotel could you consider staying @ in Reno, Nevada? Well BF-J & I made our selection primarily based on price, then location for our Labor Day Getaway...try out Club Cal Neva (short for Nevada) Hotel & Casino!
LOCATION: Club Cal Neva Hotel & Casino are NOT in the same bldg, rather across the street from each other. Hotel entrance is on Virgina St btw First & Second St. Garage Parking Lot (free) is on other side of casino, on Center St; or u could also opt for their free Valet Parking & just tip driver. If you opt to parking garage like us, round up your luggage & walk through the TWO casino bldgs (yes, U should go through 4 doors)...once outside of casino & on Virginia St, cross the street into hotel; tatt parlor next door. Overall location is just walking distance to other major hotels on Reno's Virginia Street Strip like El Dorado, Circus Circus, & Harrahs (Starbucks 2nd level *tee-hee*).
CUST SVC: Polite, efficient, & good. Helpful & informative via-phone w/ room reservations few mths in advance, & still same mannerism received from fellow employees upon check-in, check-out, questions/requests from front desk & housekeeping during our stay.
HOTEL: We booked our Standard King Non-Smoking Room in July '09 for Sept '09 stay; yes it's always better to book early if u can to get better rates especially if traveling during holidays like us for Labor Day Weekend in Sparks, NV for Nugget Rib Cook-off. Wi-Fi not free, but available for $8.95/24hr access; payment via-credit card upon online setup...else enjoy the TV. Decent 1-sink bthrm size & shower/toilet room. Shower/Toilet Room has a door to close it off from sink area; quaint size all around, handicap accessible, & roomy for 2 people to move around each other in...although shower is 1-person deal...there's no room for any coupling in here folks. Our stay was on the 10th floor w/ a decent view as well.
CHECK-OUT: Final tab for 3days/2nights (Fri-Sun) was about $160 ($143+tax). BF & I checked out @ front desk, then I waited in lobby area w/ our luggage while he went to parking garage to get our vehicle. There's room in front of hotel for loading/unloading. Would we come back? We'd consider it...our stay wasn't bad really. Glad we know our way around now tho =)
MJ's SUGGESTIONS: Mini-fridge only comes in deluxe rooms; my suggestion is to buy a $4 styrofoam cooler from Safeway (freezer section on top), bring on ur trip, get ice from hotel vending machine, then pack any beverages u like in cooler. Yes, the hotel provides plastic container for u to collect ice, but the ice melts eventually...styrofoam cooler keeps the ice as cubes muuuuch longer ;-) Or, when u make ur RSVP for Standard Room & inquire for a fridge, when the employee ask ""What do you need the fridge for? Is it for medical reason?"" (I WAS in awe the question was even asked upon my request & thought afterwards would we have gotten it if I answered ""Yes"")....go ahead & just say yes...I'll look fwd to ur review on how it turned out *tee-hee*
Pros: Economically prices for decent/clean room & good housekeepin
Cons: Garage parking not physically connected w/ hotel bldg
