Cliff’s Taxidermy officially opened its doors. I had several names for my business before I finally decided that Cliff's Taxidermy was the right choice. The reason for the choice is that I take great pride in my work. Big or small, they are all part of God’s great creation and if someone wants to spend their hard earned money to hang it in their home or cabin then I want to make sure my name is with itSince the beginning I’ve mounted thousands of white-tailed deer, hundreds of birds, fish, and life-size mounts ranging from a 900 lb. Alaskan brown bear to a bobwhite quail. I’ve also done fish ranging from freeze dried minnows for habitat bases to 10 foot reproduction marlins.Over the years I’ve completed a couple junior college taxidermy courses, competed at many state taxidermy competitions and won numerous ribbons. I have also attended many seminars conducted by world class judges and taxidermists/biologists.My duties at Cliff’s Taxidermy are: taking several crucial measurements of the game, skinning, fleshing, and almost most importantly, detailed salting (drying of the hide in preparation to ship to a tannery). Once the skins have arrived from the tannery Chris and I take inventory and assess the quality of each hide. I can now start the final fleshing (thinning the skin), and the mounting process begins.
