One of the worst experiences in life, just below having a root canal and maybe just above being knee-capped by your bookie, has to be buying a car. There's nothing worse than trying to sneak onto the lot to look at a few cars and then scamper away before the hovering vultures of salesmen descend upon you like you are a recently squashed possum.
One of the worst car-buying experiences you are ever likely to have is at Cliffor Chrysler-Jeep just outside of Chicago. If you are in the market for any Jeep or Chrysler product, you would be better served going ANYWHERE else. There's a Carmax in Schaumburg and another Jeep dealership there as well.
The salesmen are beyond pushy. They practically ooze oil from their skin. Be prepared to be badgered repeatedly about your credit and given a lot of time to sit in a cubicle while the salesman pretends to negotiate a deal for you with their manager only to come back to ask for thousands of dollars up front. Also be prepared for a deal that requires you pay through your nose each month for about the lifespan of your average tortoise.
Also, as far as service goes you would be better served pounding your Jeep with a hammer. When I had a problem with my car overheating a couple winter's ago, I took it back to Clifford's service center no fewer than five times before a manager finally stepped in and resolved the problem. Nothing like being stranded on an Illinois road in the freezing cold to make you seethe with hate for a particular car dealership.
Avoid this place at ALL costs.
