We love to go camping in our VW bus, and the Cleveland National Forest offers some nice options close to San Diego. We like to go to the Prado Campground. We usually get a site in the shady loop, as this is closer to the developed bathrooms (gotta love the flush toilets and hot showers). Nice trails from the campground follow the meadow. Dogs are allowed, but must be leashed and stay on paved roads only (no trails). There is a camp host that sells fire wood, or you can pick some up at the little store about five miles south.
