Wonderful zoo! 7/27/2005

I have taken my oldest child to this zoo and plan to return and take my youngest child as well. The zoo is very inexpensive and they have every type of animal imagineable. There is quite a bit of walking to see everything in the park but it is well worth it. They have a small aquarium on one end of the park and the rainforest is in the front of the park. I highly recommend anyone to go to the Cleveland Metropark zoo if they have a chance. more

enjoy yourself 7/26/2005

They have every animal you can think of there. They have information on the animals. They have very unique animals. They also have a play area for the kids, they have areas to eat. they also have a Mcdonalds, pizza hut if you don't bring your own food. more

fun day at the zoo 7/15/2005

Cleveland has one of the best zoos in the country. There are plenty of animals to see and its fun for all ages. Some favorites for my family are....the tigers & Australian Outback - where wallabies and kangaroos hop freely by the walking path. The animals are well taken care of, the staff is friendly and helpful. Don't forget while you're there to visit the rain forest. more

Fun Exciting Funfilled Day 7/11/2005

My children love the zoo. They are so excited when they see us driving up to the gate. They never want to leave. Always clean and the staff is so friendly. Not one complaint. more

World Class Zoo! 6/9/2005

Cleveland has one of the best zoos in the country. There are plenty of animals to see and its fun for all ages. Don't expect to see it all in one day, though, its so big that its better done in several 1/2 day increments. Our favorites are the Australian Outback - where wallabies and kangaroos hop freely by the walking path, a petting zoo, and a old fashioned train ride appeal to kids of all ages, and the Northern Trek - where seals will work for food. The rainforest is a treat, too, if not a little stinky. more

A full day of fun, learning and adventure await you here! 6/8/2005

The Cleveland Zoo is incredible. Now I could be bias, but it's probably the best. Our zookeepers take great care of the animals and are so helpful, friendly and knowledgable. You can easily spend a day in the zoo alone. With the rainforest you are in for another adventure. more

Editorial
  • The Scene
Foragers rustling in the brush, grazers gathering on a riverbank, king carnivores hungrily eyeing their next prey. And intrepid hunters making those all-important decisions, like: ketchup, mustard, or both and relish, too? The Crocodile Café, I presume.

    Safari, So Good
Inside the geodesic dome of the environmentally correct RainForest Exhibit, predators of all ages and diet requirements can sidle up under a thatched canopy and nosh in a peaceable, quick-food kingdom. Cool (literally) décor, such as hut roofs and deck flooring, plus tables and chairs that wouldn't look out of place in a treehouse make this rest stop a hit with just about everyone. In the summer, the dining area's air conditioning is a welcome relief after all that temperature-correct tramping. And in the winter, it's just good to get inside for some coffee or hot soup.

    The Feed
A bungle through the jungle being the hungry work it is, the Crocodile snaps up finger-friendly favorites including hot dogs, hamburgers and very generous deli platters, plus plenty of coffee and soft drinks for the weary.

But We're Still at the Pachyderm House
Stomach's growling and you're nowhere near the Rainforest yet? Consider an exploration of the African savannah, where the Crocodile's faster, cheaper cousin, the Roaring Lion Café does the outdoor thing with chain pizza (Pizza Hut), burgers and ice cream. Visitors traveling without a little flock of their own can drop in the adults-only Long Necks brew stop. And, oh yes: If time allows, there's a really great zoo out there.
