Cleveland County Fair Association

Cleveland County Fair comes from the Cleveland County Fair Association. Actually, I am not really sure what makes up the actual association for the fair, but I can tell you that the Cleveland County Fair has the largest of all attendance in a North Carolina fair. The exhibits, however, are really bad. Their numbers dwindled this year, except the photography one. That was the one they wanted to go down. They changed the rules on it, but it still didn't work because they didn't go by their own rules and because if they did, their rules were strange. Anyway, the fair association does a pretty good job but I wish they would not raise so the cost of getting in. Paying $7 just to get in is ridiculous. I ove the Cleveland County Fair. Who doesn't? But I don't like is that they keep raising door entrance fees. It's $7 for 2006, and I think that's too expensive. They keep getting great entertainment, but now they have gotten rid of the circus, the elephant acts, elephant rides, tiger show, and much more through the past years. They replace them with kids' shows. I don't like so many kids' shows. I like what they had in the past. But at any rate, I also like the exhibits. I don't think there is enough of them though. more

Cleveland County Fair advertises it is a fair for several surrounding counties. They say they have the largest in the state as far as attendance. However, their exhibits lack a lot. They have really gone down hill. There are hardly no exhibits this year, and every year it has dropped down. The only thing that was up this year were the pictures. But that was their fault because they have rules but they don't go by them. They pick and choose what rules they are going to follow. The new fair manager does keep changing things, and it's not a nice thing to do when you are new. He should get to know the folks and the fair because he tries and implements things. The rides weren't up to par this year, and activities seemed to be lacking. Their did seem to be more vendors this year, but I don't think they'll come back next year. more

Cleveland County Fair Association is located at 1751 East Marion Street. Every year it seems to get better and better. However, this year's fair, according to the schedule, doesn't seem as good as in the previous years. They have a new fair director, and he doesn't seem to be pleasing too many people because he changes/changing/changed a lot of rules and things that have gone on for years. I like to go every year and look at the exhibits and walk around the fair. It's exciting and full of energy. I think it is too expensive to get in the gate, though. Seven dollars is too high. more
