Clear Lake Kennels

I usually take my dogs to the Pink Poodle in League City for boarding and grooming but they are closed for business. So I brought my dogs here to board and groom and what a mistake. The first red flag was that I didn't have to bring proof of vaccinations. They asked who my vet was when I dropped them off, they noted it in the computer and I was out the door. It doesn't matter if they verify it later, my dogs were already there and I was gone. At the time I thought it was kind of convenient but when I picked up my dogs I saw the problem with there process. My dogs both had flees and one had a visible tick. The groomer did a horrible job, I think her name was Kathy or Katy. My dogs both looked like Ray Charles had groomed them under the direction of Stevie Wonder. When I called back and spoke with the owner she was completely useless. She says the groomers are contracted so there is nothing she can do...WTF....You have them in your business and you collected my money not them, so I think there is something you can do. She said that they can make me another appointment to have my dogs re-groomed in a couple of weeks.....You must be crazy lady, if you think I would bring my babies back to your business. \r \r If you don't care about your pets and they have no vaccines take them here. IF YOU LOVE YOUR PETS AND DON'T WANT THEM CATCHING GHETTO DOG DISEASE....PASS THIS PLACE UP. more

Clear Lake Kennels has been a Godsend to us as a canine rescue organization. They have provided excellent long-term boarding to our rescued canines. The staff has gone above and beyond to assist us in keeping dogs safe, advertising our adoption events and spreading the word about dogs in need of forever homes. I have used their grooming services twice. I was pleased the first time, even though the cost was more than I am used to paying. The second time, the groomer askd me what I wanted and I asked for a little more off of my dog's legs. She quoated me a higher price so I refused that part of the service. Isn't the whole body of my dog included? Geesh! more

Wonderful and friendly staff. Always accommodating and smiling. They take excellent care of your pet, whether it is for grooming or boarding. Grooming is excellent, with never a cut or scratch on the paws, tummy or body. For over 10 years, my poodle, Rusty, has been having ""the works"" - his hair cut and styled, a ""manicure and pedicure"" , complete with ""filing"" (grinding) the nails. I took my Scooter to Clear Lake Kennels and I got the feeling he didn't want to come home. Obviously, they're staffed with very capable caring people. I'd recommend them to anyone who has a beloved pet. more

Ummm, my dog is like ""see ya"" when I drop him off. LOL. Good customer service, good everything. I drop him off here at least every other month if not more. I have not had one issue or concern which says a lot coming from me. Pros: Everything Cons: n/a more

I have been going there since 1992. The dogs just jump out of the car and crash through the gate to get in. They come home healthy and happy. This place dominates. Pros: the staff loves your animals more

I've used a couple of kennels and decided to try this one as they let the dogs out multiple times thru out the day. I noticed when I took my dog the last time he was pulling me to get in the door. He never used to like to go to a kennel. Just amazing. I guess he picked this one!\r And he's now on better food than he used to eat. I thought I was doing a good job feeding him, but with their office person, Clay, helping me, and giving me some information, Buddy now has better skin and coat. I didn't know food would make that big of a difference. \r I highly recommend the place! Pros: My dog likes it so now I don't feel bad not taking him. Cons: Must have a reservation for holidays and a deposit. more

We have used CLKennels for years, and they have always taken EXCELLENT care of our dogs, including one instance in which an older dog got a bad infection shortly after arrival. They worked with the vet and updated us continually on a condition that was not at all their fault, and were very loving and careful. We are always assured that our dogs are in good hands here. Clear Lake Kennel has taken wonderful care of my dog. She is currently on a regime of 4 different medications, some given twice a day. She loves the care and attention that she gets at Clear Lake Kennel - in fact, when we pull in, she is excited to go inside and get the hugs and attention from the wonderful staff. I am frequently out of town, and the personnel at the kennel treat my dog like their own - with compassion and care. (I've had them call me to find out if the dog had eaten before I brought her in, to make sure they wouldn't double feed or yet not feed her when needed.) Last year, because of my business travel, she was kenneled multiple times for 2 weeks at a stretch. She always has come back happy and raring to play and resume our home routine. Clear Lake Kennel is a reliable home away from home for my dog! Pros: Convenient, caring, competitive pricing, grooming availability Cons: work on HWY 3 has made entry into the Kennel sporting! more

I have two dogs I left at the kennel for 5 days. One of the dogs is on medication. When I picked up my dog, he looked horribly sick. I took him home and took his temperature and it was over 104 degrees! I called and they insisted they gave him his medicine (although i'm sure they wouldn't have admitted it if they hadn't) and said it was probably the stress of the kennel. I asked around and if it were stress he would have started looking better, but he was only getting worse. He was sick like he hadn't gotten his medication in days. If in fact they did give him the medicine, I don't believe they made sure he swallowed it. I won't take my dogs back there because I do not trust their care. Pros: Easy to get appointment Cons: don't pay attention and don't take dogs outside at all unless you pay for it and then its only a measly 15min. more

Owner insisted on charging for an additional day because we were attempting to check out our dog seven minutes after the check out time. We had arrived at the noon deadline but were forced to wait while she took care of another customer. \r \r Additionally, she tried to argue that the extra day was justified because staff had been forced to feed and take care of our dog for the entire morning. We then discovered from the handler that they HAD NOT EVEN FED OUR DOG SINCE THE DAY BEFORE. It appears that this kennel tries to save money by not feeding the animals on the day of their pickup.\r \r The owner of this kennel exhibited extremely poor customer service and also absolutely no concern about the lack of food given to our pet. We will not be returning and urge others to avoid this kennel as well. Pros: Easy to get a spot on even the busiest of time periods Cons: Horrible customer service, charged a full day because checkout happened seven minutes after noon (had to wait for other customer to finish), did not feed dog on day of pickup in order to save money. more

This kennel facility is the best I've ever seen or used. My dogs are well cared for, the kennels are cleaned and disinfected daily. this place is clean! clean ! clean!. the staff is so attentive to all the dogs needs and will go above and beyond the call of duty for your pet. The grooming services are great! I've had to leave my dogs there for up to 2 weeks and when I come get them, they are clean...even though they were groomed the day they went in. Absoluetly fantastic!! And I live inside the city of Houston!
