I contracted CLEAR wireless service after a sales person in my neighborhood stated that there was no contract for service, that the 4G had fantastic speed, and that if I was not satisfied with the service I could cancel it at any point with no cancellation fee. They suggested I lease the modem rather than buying it so that it could be upgraded at no cost if a better model was developed. Well, it was all a big lie: 1) The service on the 12th floor of a Manhattan building was never good; 2) when I requested a change in modem they pretended to charge me and it was a big fight to get them to fulfill their promise; and 3) when after months of frustration I called to cancel the service, they said I had a contract (Surprise!!!) and that there was a $40 cancellation fee. When I asked to speak with a supervisor (Melvin, August 10-2012 at 11:40 pm.) he just said that the "virtual contract" (i.e. not signed by me) stated that I agreed to the cancellation fee. So, if you are a person who does not read all the legalese of a contract and you don't want to spend time before clicking "accept," BEWARE, CLEAR is not the company with which you want to do business. Did I say the connection stunk?
