This was written as an addition to a post out of Ohio: I second the post by jimschmdt41 in regards to clear channel radio. My story is in reference to their Fresno, CA branch. Here is my story: I actually paid them for advertising in full. The company I worked for did not pay the money they owed. clear channel sued me for the company's portion because the company went under and was headquartered out of state. I am not a principal, just an employee who made the worst mistake of my life in trying to obtain new clients. They misled me into not responding to the court within 30 days. I have proof to back up all of these statements. Their lawyers said I simply had to fax a copy of my response to them and it would probably be thrown out. It was on their fax machine the following day. The truth was that I had to file it with the court. I've never been in legal trouble in my life, so I had no reason to believe I was being misled. A default of judgment was filed. Since this time, they have threatened taking my home, had the Sheriff's dept. steal $936 from my bank account (while I’m unemployed; in which their lawyers were aware of), taken my career, and basically ruined my life. What's even better is they filed judgment including the portion I had paid. A year later they credited my paid portion but after they calculated the interest owed and fees. They say I now owe them more than the entire original price for the advertising which includes what I paid being credited. New laws which take effect on 3-5-10 state that anyone employed in my line of work (which I absolutely love and have been doing for over 8 years now) must have a background check done. This involves a credit check to prove financial reliability. A default of judgment had my licensing denied meaning I no longer have a career. I'm numb....If anyone does not believe this is true, feel free to contact me and I can show proof of everything. Btw, clear channel didn't even fulfill the advertising promised. I have notarized receipts that prove this (sent to me by clear ch.!!). The wonderful ad they played for 4 mos. resulted in one phone call from someone just asking if they had gotten a good deal from a competitor. Does this sound like a fair punishment for paying your bill in full and on time? So I echo, ""DO NOT ADVERTISE WITH THIS COMPANY!”
