Really different experience 11/9/2005

Went to the Clay Oven on a recommendation from people at work. I've been to number of other quality Indian restaurants in Orange County but I don't know how I missed this one. The last thing I expected to be impressed with was soup in an Indian restaurant, and that was just the beginning of the meal. The Chicken Tikka Masala and Fish Curry were terrific. The warm ambience and friendly service were a real bonus. more

Good to be back! 9/20/2005

We went back to the Clay Oven 5 years after moving out of the OC, and we're glad to see that some things don't change. The food was fantastic as always and the service was great. The host is so warm and wonderful and we regretted being away for so long. The lamb with figs dish is my new personal favorite after the swordfish. This place is definitely a cut above any other Indian restaurant in the OC or NYC. Pros: Good Ambience, Friendly Service, Yummy Food more

Wonderful food, romantic ambience 9/3/2005

The food at the Clay Oven is the best Indian food in Orange County. The naan is amazing, and the vegetable samosas are also great. Try the appetizer sampler to get a taste of everything. Entrees are served tandori style - which means they are in cooper dishes. Almost all have rich sauces. A wonderful selection of Indian beers is also available. For dessert, try the mango creme brulee. The staff is very friendly - don't be surprised if the owner approaches your table to see how your dining experience is going. Prices are a bit high - but the food and ambience are well worth it. PROS: Wonderful place for a romantic dinner. CONS: more

Wow - Fabulous food, elegant service. It felt like dining in a friends home. The lamb shank dish was outstanding and cooked perfectly. The soup of the day was the best I've had in a long time. Awesome food 8/11/2005

Best indian food in orange county without a doubt. Comparable to indian food in London and Africa. Those who have eaten indian in either know its better then indian food in India!. Excellent service. more

We had dinner at the Clay Oven with another couple on Saturday night who had reccomended it to us. We were pleasantly surprised by the presentation, the excellent service, and the wine selection, not to mention the Tilapia curry which I can still taste! Pros: Great Service, Excellent Food, Good Atmosphere more

Not the best Tikka Masala 5/24/2005

The Tikka Masala here is not even close to the best. It lacks depth of flavor. The Tikka Masala at Mayur is addicting and absolute heaven. more
