Buffet vs. Dinner 7/23/2006

Speaking as a guy who grew up on this stuff, I always felt that the mark of a good Indian restaurant was one where the quality of the buffet matched the quality of the dinner entrees. That is certainly not the case at the Clay Oven. Great dinners, subpar buffet. more

Eat here, and eat here often 12/9/2005

My wife and I stumbled into this place about 5 years ago (on a recommendation), and have been regular visitors ever since. Get past the strip mall location and the modest decor. The food is worth it. And the owner, who as far as we can tell is there EVERY night, is one of the nicest restaurant owners we've ever had the pleasure of being served by. We've tried just about everything -- the lamb, the chicken, the tandoori, the seafood. It's all great. The soups (such as curry corn chowder and pumpkin tamarind) are usually an excellent choice. They also have a good selection of Indian beers. Best recommendation is to go with a group of people so you can try as many things as possible. more

Not just another Indian restaurant 8/17/2005

Ok, most Indiann restaurants, I don't even think of going if there isn't a buffet. It's usually overpriced and you don't get the variety that a buffet allows for. But, I had a coupon, so I broke my rule, and... Doonn't go here for the lunch buffet -- their dinner entrees are out of this world. I am not a big meat eater, but meat is this place's specialty and it was out of this world. Everything on their menuu is outstanding. I went to their buffet afterward, and it didn't compare, so this is definitely a dinner destination. more
