Brought an older poodle mix dog and a 16 week poodle mix dog in for a grooming. Asked for a basic puppy cut with longer face for the older dog, asked for exposure to all grooming equipment and a bath for the younger dog. Dogs were in good condition, with no matts, and older dog had been to groomers many times without complaint.
Dogs came back looking fine. However, as soon as we got in the car, older dog wouldn't stop growling. As soon as we got home, she threw up all over the floor. After inspecting her, I noticed 5 or 6 razor cuts and burns over her chest and tummy, and noticed that her toenails were all quicked.
We were NOT notified of any of these injuries. I now groom them myself, and have cut my dog once while grooming, so I know it happens. However, I was quite upset that I wasn't TOLD about the cuts (obviously ""quick stopped"").
My puppy did have a good experience, and we got everything we wanted out of the visit for him, which was to be unafraid of grooming salons/equipment.
Pros: Did listen to cut requests; treated our 16 week puppy well
Cons: Cut our older dog and didn't mention it.
