I've boarded my 2 cats and 2 dogs at Classic Kennels for about 6 years now, sometimes for as long as two weeks. I just love them. Whenever I take the dogs there, they are straining to be LET IN!! I've had several dogs in my life and have boarded them in different places as I've moved around over the years, and this is the first kennel I've had where my dogs are happy and straining to get in when I take them there. That says a lot to me.
The dogs usually come back a more fit and definitely happy and well-cared for. I think they get more exercise at Classic Kennels than they do at home, so, yes, this often means a pound or two lighter, too. This kennel is willing to board my two dogs in a shared kennel (but separates them for feeding, 'cause one is jealous of her food) and my two cats (brother and sister who have never been apart) in a shared cage. Joanne & Barbara do seem to be more dog than cat people, and their cat boarding space is limited, but the cats, too, seem to come back pretty happy (neither is a very good traveler) and definitely well-cared for. They place the cat carriers in the shared cage so that each one has a private space to go to, which I think the cats really appreciate.
Joanne & Barbara are meticulous about all pets having up-to-date vaccinations and the kennels, though in an older building, are quite clean. I don't worry about my animals picking up something from another boarder when they're there.
Classic Kennels does have limited pick-up and drop-off hours. For me, they're worth the inconvenience. I've also seen over the years that they limit the hours so that they have the time to care for all of the animals well, provide a less chaotic atmosphere for their charges, and still lead at least semi-sane lives themselves, so I don't mind that limitation.
This is a great kennel run by good folk.
