Don't be alarmed by the unassuming, gothic appearance of the building or the old-school elevator; once the gates open at the 6th floor and that rush of warmth and colour hits you, you will know that you have found a quiet gem in the great hustle and bustle of New York City. The service is fantastic; Peter, one of the salespeople, is as enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the items as one could hope. He will happily fill you in on any of the items on display without being too overwhelming. If you are lucky, you will meet Denise Sheehan, one of the owners, and the beauty with the eye for most of the collections you see there. From vintage Chanel purses to imported scents from France to a truly dazzling array of costume jewelry, you are bound to spend at least a couple of hours in here, if not for the antiques, then at least for the decor of the place itself.
Pros: Quality selection, excellent customer service, warm ambience, decent prices.
Cons: There's nothing wrong with travelling in a century-old, man-operated elevator to get to this place.
