Kim bop! Korean pancakes! Frozen squid! If you've got a craving for any of the above, visit Clark Market in Albany Park, where you'll find a complete selection of Korean produce, fresh meat and fish, condiments (lots of hot sauce and pickles), and frozen foods (more frozen dumplings than I've ever seen in one spot).
The takeout counter in the back is the best. Korean ladies are there all day making kim bop (cute rice rolls WITHOUT raw rish, great for a party tray, served with green wasabi mustard & pink pickled ginger), as well as korean pancakes (onion-y) and interesting soups. The salad bar features garlic spinach, spiced soybean sprouts, and many Korean specialties.
You can also buy beef or pork readily marinated for bulgogi stirfry or barbecue. Yum. The market also sells Korean junk food (such as wasabi peas), teas, housewares, and beer.
Location: 4855 N. Kedzie, just north of Lawrence Ave. Parking lot. Another location at 4609 N. Clark.
