City Carton Recycling

I was in Iowa one day on business, and had to stop by this recycling center with a friend. Actually this place was amazing. They took almost everything that you could recycle, and donated money to charities as well. Not just a scam too, I talked with the local homeless shelter and they said the recylcing company actually donated the money to them. more

This is a great place for those out of towners who do not have curb side pick up to drop off their recycling. Plus this is a great place to unload tons of cardboard all at once. You can go at any hour to drop off your glass, plastic, cans, newspaper, cardboard and phone books. Be prepared that come Saturday morning, they are going to be busy! There are big metal containers that are clearly marked for tossing in your items. more

NOw it is easy to tell the seasons n the Iowa city area....we have pre-Spring break....post-spring break....pre-summer school....post-sumemr school....pre-fall semester....etc. What I am really saying here is you can always figure what time of year it is by all the refuse left all over the town in apartment dumpsters and even at curbs. Now this isn't all bad, we do get our town back for a short amount of time while the students flux from one time span to another but that is offset by all the trash they leave. Now if people who are moving would just think of recycling they could lessen the amount of waste at curbside. All it would take is a few containers and some labeling....label and sort as to glass (colors as well as clear), plastic, paper and carboard....then take a short drive to city recycling. IT is easy to pull up to a recycling container and drop of your stuff and you will feel so much better for it! check it out.........neatness and god for the environment too! more

They provide large containers for you to place your recyclable items (these are like small semi trailer sized metal storage "cartons"). They recycle all types of items such as newspaper, office paper, magazines, card board, plastic, metal cans, soda cans (they donate the $.05 to local charities), brown glass, green glass, and clear glass. Clean, considering it is a recycling center. Easy to access and easy to get close to the containers so you don't have to carry your recycling too far. more
