I am not sure if you have heard, but here in Cedar Rapids there were fliers at just about every retail location you could think of that stated the following:

So we as parents get our children all psyched up about seeing a circus (for us a cheap one at that - 2 free kids admits), and ponies & elephant rides. The kids promise good behavior if you'll take them. You like that idea.
Friday rolls around, the day of the circus, and your littlest one pops right out of bed yelling 'WE GET TO GO TO THE CIRCUS!' You talk about the circus some more with your kids. And you swear you have heard 'Is it time? Can we go now?' at least 500 times.
Time to go, you got your cash, some extra for treats. Kids by now are jumping, hopping, yipping, all pumped up. You get in your car, drive all the way out to the Armory.
AND WHAT!?! NO CIRCUS!?! They are NO WHERE to be found! The tears starting rolling down your kids faces, even your spouses. Then the kids begin whining & screaming. What are you as a parent to do? Chuck E Cheese? Mc Donald's? Happy Joe's? Planet X? NOPE! NONE are as good as a circus!
Well, the above scenario happened to MANY families tonight in Cedar Rapids. What a very sad scene.
Upon doing a little bit of searching on the net, comes to find out that Circus Pages did not even tell/ask the National Guard Armory that they were going to use their facilities for a circus, which wouldn't have worked this weekend as they have 200+ guardsman/guardswoman there now. And to top that off, they didn't even get the required permit from the City of Cedar Rapids to have animals on display.
How EXTREMELY disappointing. Shoot that don't even begin to explain how these kids feel.
I checked their website and this is what it says on top: "Due to circumstances beyond our control we have to sadly cancel both our 4:30 & 7:00 PM shows on April 28th in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Unfortunately at this time we have no other date rescheduled. Please contact our office for booking information!"
HOW COULD IT BE BEYOND THEIR CONTROL? The ball was in their court the entire time, it's not like they got denied a permit or something. They chose not to contact the Armory or request a permit from the city. It is 100% THEIR fault.
You can bet a pretty penny that if they ever come back to Cedar Rapids, if they are even allowed to, that I know for 100% fact my family will NOT GO!
They showed a great deal of lack of judgment.
I suggest that anyone that was planning on going to the circus tonight, to go to their web page: CircusPages.com
And use the 'Contact Us' feature and truly let them know how you feel. I know I am going to!
