In ShortCiola's is a family-owned restaurant that originated in Virginia Beach. The simple, modest interior features small booths enclosed by alcoves. The antipasto platter has rolls of prosciutto, provolone and mortadella, complemented by eggplant caponata with pine nuts, mozzarella and tomatoes, and a marinated artichoke and red pepper salad. Soft pillows of house-made gnocchi swims in a fresh marinara sauce. For dessert, Ciola's Spumoni has stripes of pistachio, chocolate, vanilla and strawberry, all studded with nuts.
