Expensive but quite nice 8/15/2010

This yarn store is really nice but kinda posh and snobby. It says it's a tea shop too so was hoping to enjoy a cup of tea in their shop but nope they just sell tea at the back. The prices are phenomenally expensive even if aesthetically it is quite nice. I am on a search for an affordable swift and winder. They had a nice wooden one for 250$!!!!!! And that is when I walked out the door. Luckily there is an ice creamery outside. more

Churchmouse Yarns & Teas 3/22/2006

This little gem is tucked off Winslow Way, the main drag through downtown Bainbridge. It's on Madrone, just behind Blackbird Bakery. The owners, Kit and John are great. They've have created a welcoming space for knitters, crocheters, stitchers, tea-drinkers, and browsers of all types. They offer a great range of classes--I learned to knit there when I realized I'd been visiting the store pretty regularly as a non-knitter (to look at the luscious colors, to feel the various textures and weights, and to imagine what it would be like to be able to make something wearable) Also check out the oddballs and closeouts section in the back--usually 40% off, and I've made some great finds there.. If you have questions, or need help with something, weekdays are best: weekends tend to be very busy. more

Charming, delightful, perfect 8/18/2005

Located in downtown Winslow, this combination yarn store and tea shop is a knitter's/crafter's/tea-drinker's/city girl's delight. The owners and employees possess an uncanny ability to make every customer feel like the store is there solely for their needs. They have a generous selection of high-quality yarns, a lovely nook of books, and knitting needles made from all sorts of materials (including rosewood). They have shop patterns everywhere, and the products are breathtaking. Best of all, the shop patterns are complimentary with the purchase of yarn for the pattern. Most of all, it's a place you can sit, knit, and chat, and feel like you've taken a mini-vacation. more

Unique yarn/knitting store! 6/23/2005

A short ferry ride from Seattle, Churchmouse Yarns & Teas is a wonderful shop! They carry a diverse collection of yarns and the largest selection of needles I have seen in any shop in Seattle or it's environs! The staff is friendly and helpful and they offer a good selection of classes. They are a bit pricey, however. more
