Best

A church fitted for a night out. Well done. The decor is wonderful and they do try to accommodate all desires. The basement club needs work but has a great Industrial/EBM night...

Worst

IF glow sticks are your thing, this is the place to be. Lacks the class of other clubs. Decor is great, however, the patrons really bring down the potential.

Not bad 10/24/2002

Well, American style, same as the others. However the interior is cool! more

Too much live a rave, lacks class 10/23/2002

Awesome Atmosphere 10/17/2002

The atmosphere is the coolest part of this club. When you first walk in you feel like you're going to hell, but you soon learn to appreciate its uniqueness. My friends and I drive down almost every thursday night for the 18+ night from Ft. Collins. Sometimes this club can be a little too trendy or whatever you wanna call it but it's usually worth the $15 cover ($10 if you're 21)! My only complaint is the lighting system. It could be a really cool place with some strobes and more advanced lighting. Pros: Atmosphere, music Cons: Lighting System, trendy more

Under-rated! 10/15/2002

Don't really understand people who say the following things about the church: "the church was cool two years ago, not now" uhhh..the church was snobby two years ago, more diverse now. "going down hill" not at all. not only are they bringing in some great dj's (I saw SASHA ;> last thursday; great crowd, great vibe, music sounded wonderful), but everytime I go there the place is packed. "kids" Being 22, gotta say that sometimes I perfere going on 18 and over nights - less sloppy drunks, more people dancing. "crappy" dude, this place has three dance floors, a classy cigar room, a sushi bar, two patios, a balcony over looking the main floor, coutches, and awsome stained glass. those that have a "crappy" time at this place might want to check their "crappy" attitudes. more

Best Club! 9/15/2002

I have lived in Orlando and Boston and this is the best club I have been too... The music is a great mix of techno and dance music... The people are friendly and cool which creates a great atmosphere and vide... The decor is awesome... How can you go wrong with an old church.... Pros: Music, Atmosphere, Vibe Cons: Drinks more

unique 8/22/2002

Not only is the music amazing, but the building is beautiful. Classy place to feel the groove. more

over it 8/14/2002

Tries too hard. The Church was cool two years ago and is over now. Cons: cheesy, annoying, bad service more

Best Layout & Music 8/12/2002

Club has plenty of room and variety. Plays the best music when Tribal is spinning... Staff kinda rude... BUT that really doesn't matter. Pros: Variety, Music, Scene Cons: Not enough bars, Drunk daring men more

Going down hill! 8/11/2002

I used to consider Church the best club in Denver, but nowdays it has the worst crowd (kids, no dress code.) It doesn't get packed (if ever) util 11pm. The only good thing about is that it's huge and it has few different rooms. Cons: not crowded, kids more

Staff coule be more friendly 7/28/2002

It's a really cool club... but the staff could be a little more friendly. The thursday 18/21+ ID check could be a little better planned. Cover a bit high. Pros: multi levels, It's a church!, DJs Cons: Only one bathroom, Staff, Prices more

Just like a prayer 7/24/2002

The Church may not be the Club du jour, but it still has the best sound system and variety of music in Denver. I mean, come on, you are in a CHURCH, it still has all the stain glass - it is beautiful - the sound system is pumpin' and it is a great place to people watch or find a new playmate. Pros: great sound system, good music, strong drinks Cons: need more cute guys, gets REALLY cowded, can get really hot more

i'm broke! 7/24/2002

my opinion has changed since i started going there in 2 months time. i think 10 bucks cover is rip-off. drinks cost way too much. place is not even packed until 11pm at earliest if at all. i will find another hangout because they lost power one night when i had just arived and didnt offer refund even though i was there only 20 minutes and transferred use to that sweaty, damp, repulsive and way too packed to breathe vinyl. the church is going straight to hell. Pros: usual crowd, rooftop, some bartenders Cons: some bartenders, drink prices, cover charge more

Always a blast! 7/19/2002

I think that overall the Church is a great club for dancing and meeting people. Pros: good atmosphere, good service, good music Cons: parking, cover charge more

This place is awesome! 7/17/2002

I love the decor, the music is great, with lots of different rooms, catering to different tastes. The crowd is good-looking, but lots of fun!! Pros: good looking crowd, funky decor, lots of places to sit Cons: high cover charge more

The Church Rocks; Parking Sucks 7/14/2002

The church is probably The best dance/nite club I've been to in denver ( and I've been to all the crap in lodo etc). Great music, lots of diversity. Average drink prices ~$5 for a guiness. Tons of rooms to cruise. AND NO Cover before ten, that was sweet; spend the extra cash on booze. NOW for the downside, the big parking lot run by CARPARK<---SUCKS, pay for the parking and the ticket you anyway. A word to the wise get their early and park on the street or use the valet. Pros: no cover before 10, sushi bar, lots of room Cons: lost when drunk, Carpark lot sucks more

Pray for us 6/25/2002

Man i can't think of anything more sacrelig than making a dance club out of a church! But it's a blast if yous don't make a habit out of it ! more

Editorial
  • In Short
With several bars, three dance areas, a couple of lounges and even a sushi bar, The Church makes getting rowdy lots of fun. Depending on the night and the room, it attracts crowds of goths, mods and club kids. There's obvious appeal to ordering a drink and dancing the night away in a former church. However, it's not a concert hall: Sound bounces off the stone walls and cavernous high-arched ceilings creating some less-than-stellar acoustics.
