My girlfriend and I recently moved to Woodside and were craving for some good Chinese food ? not the cr_p that they serve at the corner takeout places (we try to stay away from Chinese restaurants that serve french fries). Searching the Web, we saw quite a few positive mentions of Chu Ying.\r

This place is located in Woodside Queens on Woodside Ave at the corner of 68th St. You can?t miss it. If you?re looking for General Tsao?s Chicken with a side of fries/onion rings, this is NOT the place for you. If you want fresh, delicious, authentic Chinese food, you?ve found your home! Their menu features a number of familiar dishes such as Broccoli Beef, Kung Pao Chicken, Moo Shu Pork, Lo Mein, Hot & Sour Soup, Egg Rolls, etc. and also many dishes that were new to us such as Pork w/ Leek, Sauteed Meatballs, House Special Beef, Ten Ingredients Fried Rice, and a list of specialty noodle bowls served in a variety of sauces or soups. We visited on a Saturday night and the place was quite full. Everyone was slurping on bowls of noodles (everyone was having one) and chomping on plates of sauteed dishes that looked quite enticing.\r

One by one, the dishes we ordered were brought to our table. We bit into our food and my girlfriend and I just stared at each other knowing what the other was thinking ? WOW! Everything we ordered was fabulous! We had Fried Dumplings, Shrimp with Garlic Sauce, and Kung Pao Chicken at other Chinese restaurants, but Chu Ying delivers these dishes at a much higher level of freshness, authenticity, and taste. The best part of our meal was the Noodles with Seafood and Soup (we ordered it mild since my girlfriend doesn?t like too much heat). All I can say is that you have to try Chu Ying?s noodles to understand just how good it is ? I would rank it as one of the best in all of NYC. This place is a hidden gem for Chinese food and we will definitely be back to try a few other dishes on their menu ? will report back to share our next visit to Chu Ying.
Pros: Fabulous Chinese food - one of the best in NYC; attractive dining room; clean
Cons: Slightly pricier vs. your local takeout joint, but woth the extra cost
