Be It A Mansion Of Marble Or A Shack Of Wood, You Just Can't Live In It, If The Roof Is No Good.
Important Things to ask and look for when hiring a Contractor: 1. Are they registered with the State of Iowa. 2. Do they have Insurance. 3. Are they a Reputable Company. Not someone running from town to town when a storm hits. 4. Will they be available and local if a problem arises in the future. 5. Make sure you look over the bid closely and compare apples to apples! 6. Example; If a Roofer comes out and bids your job. Look at everybody's bids and make sure they are all giving you the same type of Roofing Felt. ie #15, #30 etc. The higher the number the more durable the felt. Are they using an ice and water barrier 3 feet up from all the Roof Edges? What type Shingle are they bidding it for. For instance Quality? some are cheaper than others. Are they putting Ridge Vent on or new Roof Vents. Ridge Vent cost more and is much more effective. All of these are important factors as most people just look at the total cost and go with the lowest bid. Not the best bid. 7. Are they going to clean up the job site and haul away all the debris. They should also tidy things up GOOD every night before going home, when the job is not quite completed. 8. I hope these are helpful tips when hiring a Roofing Contractor. Later on I will touch on some building tips too. Don't be afraid to ask a lot of questions! They should welcome and answer all of your questions! We work with all Insurance companies
