Christine Valmy Marina Del Rey

I've been to this place once and will never go back and for good reason. I am a medic in the military and recently returned from Afghanistan. I went into this spa for some much needed relaxation and pampering, what I got was rudeness, poor service and disrespect from the staff there. It really upset me at the time, here I have dedicated my life for this country's freedom and have to return to be treated as if I were inconveniencing them! If anyone is considering going to this place, please remember that they are not friendly to Americans who risk their lives for this country. The woman at the front was the worst. I hate to say this but I wish she would go back to her own country if she's going to treat people this way. more

Went for spaweek, wasn't impressed with my facial. Technician put moisturizer?, gloves and warm mits on my hands, covered my face in a goopy mask that was dripping down my neck and left the room for about 15 mins. I sat there with an itch on my nose and goop dropping down my neck, rather helpless, rather miserable. more

I have been going to Christine Valmy Spa for past 4 years. I always receive excellent service and care. I had a facial today and came out looking like baby. What I love about the facial in Christine Valmy, after I have been to many different places, is the attention to detail. I have been to places, where I was left with a mask on for 20 min and completely unattended. At Christine Valmy, while I am getting my mask, I get a massage of décolleté and my hands. I never look red or squashed after words, even though I always have extraction performed. I love getting my facial every month over here. I always feel well taken care of and relaxed after I leave. I get my eyebrows done in here as well. I always like the results and feel that they take their time on me, no rushing. Overall, I think that after I have visited many other salons, Christine Valmy Spa is my favorite! more

I have been going to the spa for about 2 years. I started going for the Aveda products. Everyone was so friendly that after pulling a muscle in my back I went for a massage. Maria was amazing! It was the best massage I have ever had. She knows what she's doing. I also have David cut my hair. Great cut and alway good conversation. \r Christine Valmy has made my gift giving to my wife a dream. She loves the facials they do. We love this spa. more

I have had problems with the owner, Gina, in the past but just called right now to make an eyebrow appt. When my usual gal was out for the day I asked for the next best eyebrow waxer to do my brows. Instead of suggesting to me who she thought was their best, she would NOT move on until I told her what time I wanted to come in. I knew this meant she was just going to shove me into a slot that she had open. I refused to give her a time and kept insisting I wanted a name first. She wouldn't give one. Finally I said something between 11:30 and 3. And what do you know, all of a sudden she was able to produce a name of a lady who just so happened to have an opening at 11:30. So I asked her who else was available at 11:30...and of course, the answer was no one. So I asked her, are you just putting me in a slot with someone who is available or is this truley your next best technician? Her answer? ""You are being very rude to me, I would never do that and this phone call is disgusting me"". I said, excuse me?!! I am just trying to be sure I get the best service, these are my eyebrows, I'll be walking around with them if someone messes them up! What does she do? SHE HUNG UP ON ME!!!!!! I called back and immediately the front desk gal answers instead. I ask who i just spoke with and low and behold, it was the worst customer service rep you have ever met, Gina the OWNER!!!! I have heard MANY a story about her in the past and now it confirms I am no longer giving them my business. I feel horrible for Maria who has to work there, as she is the best eyebrow gal around, and is stuck under the umbrella of Gina's horrible leadership. Poor Maria has now lost me as a client. While I'm at it, do NOT go to Irena for brows either. Cons: Horrible, horrible, horrible customer service. more

After I bought 7 necklaces there, I asked if /i could just please return the eighth one. After taking it home I felt it did not fall well on my body so I asked if I could return it for something else days after. (They would have gained an additional 45 $) She was amazingly snobbish for someone so ill groomed and unattractive. She bit my head off and told me no and then went so far as to tell me i couldnt buy another one there. IS THAT LEGAL? I left telling her that I had spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars there on necklaces, manicures, massage, wax, you name it and her attitude was not encouraging more sales. She snipped at me that that was the way it was ,take it or leave it playing out some surreal power game. STUPIDLY a yr went by and I went in forgetting abt her waiting for my appt next door. I assumed she worked part time as she was so unstable, and mean hearted. I coudn't imagine shed be able to work solidly. Pinned when I saw she did still work there, I asked if I could try on a random necklace and she condescended telling me the policy ( there is no return) giving me the stink eye . I laughed and noted that and thereafter she scowled at me!? She told me me that she would not let me try it on or sell it to me. CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS? She was the most ill mannered, spiteful frump I have met in our part of town. Not fun. Pros: great massage when I was pregnant. Cons: Either manager or owner is an arrogant unbalanced person. more

I was referred to Christine Valmy by a friend and let me tell you, that friend knew exactly what she was talking about. I was welcomed as soon as I arrived and the receptionist was so friendly. The serenity of this business is so wonderful. I received a Byogenic facial and it was the best thing I ever had done in any Salon I have been in. This place gets 5 stars from me!!!! more

I have been going to this salon/day spa for waxing services (legs, bikini, eyebrows) for over a year. Their hours are very convenient for busy moms like myself. They have a full staff of experienced estheticians, each one with their own style & technique, my favorite, by far is Gaby (I'm almost reluctant to print that, because she is likely to become too busy to book an appointment with me if everyone finds out how great is she). Yesterday, in addition to my regular waxing, I splurged on a deep cleansing facial (also with Gaby) and It was AMAZING. This salon is not inexpensive, but in my opinion, 100% worth it. I have never had a manicure there (referring to the other reviews I saw posted), but the nail technicians are always busy and their clientele appears upscale and quite pleased. worst experience getting my nails done. from the 15 min pedicure i paid fill price for, to the awful manicure where the manicurist kept telling me i had bad nails (duh why else would i be there?) it was a joke. then they messed up on the payment and had to chase me down. wheni went back in they messed up again! so unorganized, incompetent, over-priced, and not worth the money or time. very disappointed. i've been getting my nails done for over 10 years so i at least know what is industry standard; the workmanship here was VERY MUCH BELOW the standard. here's what i got: for my fill: the acrylics were bumpy throughout, color was dull in the corners, shape and length were uneven from one nail to next, basically lacked any attention to detail. when she applied color, it touched and pooled against EVERY inch of my cuticle above nailbed. for my pedicure: no scrub, no filing. what did i get? i soaked for hte 1.5 hours that she was making my nails worse, then she dried me off and applied color. that about sums it up. So for $27 fill, $15 pedicure, this was not worth my value and my 2.0 hours i will not get back. Pros: easy parking, OPI colors Cons: poor workmanship, Slow service, Too chatty more
