Photography given me eyes that see light, color, and form. It has given my mind the ability to slice time into a fraction, a perfect moment in an ever changing world. And it has opened my heart to be perceptive of the nature and gesture of another human being and the world around me.
I am honored to be included in a part of people's history. Whether I am photographing a shy child's portrait, a young couple's engagement, or the opening night of the Opera - I am allowed entrance to another world. I have the trust and license to capture these stories in images. I love it! And I consider it a great gift to have passion for my work.
I have been a photographer for 14 years with a background in photojournalism, fine art and commercial photography. I find that my images of personal lives are amongst the most rewarding. I love knowing that these images will be thoughtfully framed, hung on walls, enjoyed everyday and treasured for a lifetime.
Weddings
I believe every wedding is as unique as the people getting married andI strive to find those details and moments. I look for the emotions of the day - the laughter, the passion, a little nervousness, a mothers tears... the love.
I also honor the art of the portrait. I want to see fabulous photographs of the bride looking her best. I understand the importance of families getting together and having a group portrait. I do my best to put people at ease and make outstanding portraits within the scope of a wedding day.
My experience, enthusiasm and professionalism allow you to relax and enjoy the day, knowing your wedding is exquisitly captured on film.
Portraits
My approach to portraits is to capture a range of emotion, a slice of life. I put together a book of 20 matted images that reads like a visual story.
We'll work for that perfect big smile with sparkling eyes, but I don't achieve that by asking to say cheese. I feel there is so much more es pression in a human being.I want to capture the curiosity, the intensity, the subtle gestures and looks that are unique the individual. In my sessions we have time to tell jokes, play, and get to know each other. This natural style comes through in my images.
My commercial background allows for technical and quality and compositional quality. But it is the ability to see the beauty in a pout, the gesture of a hand, or mishcheif in a smile that makes photography a thrill for me.
