Christian Psychotherapy Service

For years my child had struggled in her studies. Year afer year my husband and I attended parent teacher confrences and were very frustrated over hearing ""she's very bright very capable but isn't working to her abilities and takes a long time to finish her work."" Finally one of my friends suggested Christian Psychotherapy Services for a complete check up. The staff was very friendly and warm. The person testing my child was very sensitive to her quiet nature. After testing was completed Dr. Huff personally went over the results with me. Now that we have her learning disabilty diagnosed she is on the right track with schooling. I've heard many good things about this practice and I can say it's all true. If you need educational testing to rule out learning disablities, emotional problems, or even therapy this is the place to go. The individuals here are warm, professional, and care about their clients. more

I called for a refill, never got a call back. I just wanted 3 weeks worth of medicine until my appointment. I ran out of medicine! I called back like 5 days later thinking that I would be considered an emergency, no way! The woman I spoke to the first time was even more uncaring the second time. She lied to me. Basically told me I was $&!# out of luck! Is that the way Christians are to treat people? When I go there I always wait 30 minutes or more after my told appointment time because the Dr. sees emergency patients. more

Recently I had to seek counseling and after several therapist at several different companies in this area I got a recommendation to Christian Psychotherapy Services. I was looking for a Christian atmosphere and a therapist that I could trust. I found just that at CPS. My daughter has always been an underachieving gifted child. But we were never really able to help her overcome the underachieving part and reach her potential. At Christian Psychotherapy Services, she was thoroughly evaluated before a careful diagnosis was reached. In addition to ADHD, she had a mood disorder. Now she is being prescribed medication that is allowing her to reach her potential - last semester, she had 4 A's and 1 B at Virginia Tech! Even better, she is happy and maturing into the young woman God made her to be. I am very thankful for the wonderful care she received at Christian Psychotherapy Services. more

I took my 8 year old to counseling for difficulties with focus and attention and anger issues. The receptionists were very helpful and friendly. They set me up with a wonderful therapist who tested my son and continued with counseling. We found out that he had ADHD and that was part of his problem with anger. His therapist helped us every step of the way and taught my wife and I new ways to parent and helped my son learn to control his anger and improve focus. We did start him on medication through a psychiatrist at Christian psychothrapy and he is really doing well. I would recommend this practice to anybody who is having problems with their children. I was referred by my sons school who highly recommended them. more

I was referred to this practice for behavioral problems my son was and still is having. The therapist at the first meeting seemed unconcerned about the seriousness of this behavior. There was some psychological testing done which says that he has an adjustment disorder. At each session I was asked how it had gone since the last time we were in the office, and when I would share with the therapist, as long as I was in the room, she was concerned about the behavior, my son who was 7 t the time would just tell her that the reason he acted this way or that was he was hungry. Instead of looking at his behavors and taking them seriously, the therapist recommended that my son need to eat more often. I would call the therapist, and she would call me back days later or the next week. This was the most unprofessional place that I have seen. I am glad that now my son is going elsewhere he is fnaly getting the help that he needs. more

My son has had a difficult time at school since he was in kindergarten. His teachers stated the he could not follow a set of instructions, had difficulty staying focused and never finished his tasks in a timely manner. My husband and I took him to another practice that was close to our home. After two visits our therapist told us he was just young and immature and would grow out of it. A friend at our church recommended Christian Psychotherapy Services so we called to make an appointment. The person who answered the phone was so very friendly and after telling her our story, was able to find us an appointment that week. On our first visit, our therapist recommended that our son be tested for ADHD. He was tested and found that he had a slight tendency for ADHD but did not feel he needed to be on medication for it...which my husband and I were unsure if that was the direction we wanted. Our therapist suggested that we continue with therapy, our son alone and all of us together. for a few weeks. The insight our therapist gave us about his problem and the suggestions for us to help him focus better and stay on task and time was amazing. Just a few simple techniques was all he needed. Our son is now doing wonderful and enjoys going to school. Thank you so much. Definitely seek out this practice! more

My daughter has been a patient with Christian Psychotherapy for several months. I have been to several other practices and the quality of services I received could not compare to what I have received at CPS. My daughter's therapist is very compassionate and understanding of her issues and we have finally been able to help her deal with the struggles that we were faced on daily basis. My experience at Christian Psychotherapy Services at the Western Branch Office has been very encouraging. My son has been going through a very difficult time at school. The therapist has gone above and beyond his means to provide counseling to help with my sons issues and to help me understand what he is going through on a daily basis. Through his testing we have been better able to pinpoint the reason for his struggles. In dealing with Christian Psychotherapy everyone has been very professional and helpful. I have taken my son to Christian Psychotherapy where he had a full Psychological evaluation and what an amazing experience. The professional and caring attitude at the front desk started this amazing experience. The therapist was reassuring and put our minds and ease. My son is now attending therapy with Christian Psychotherapy and every visit is an amazing experience. He is making great strides. I know of over a dozen friends from church that have received services from Christian Psychotherapy and not one of them has ever said anything negative about the practice. My best friend goes there for couples couseling and she has always shared how insightful and caring the therapist is. I would recommend this practice to anyone looking for help with a Christian perspective. :) more

I took my son there for an ADD assessment. I was supposed to see ""Mary"", but she was sick so I got someone else... She was clueless. She didn't introduce herself until my son was 15 minutes into the assessment. Sometime during the 45 minute assessment, for which I received no overview or anything beforehand, my son was given a questionnaire about his feelings. I couldn't fit into the closet-sized room he was in with worker X so I didn't see her give it to him. My son is 8. He filled out that sometimes he wants to kill himself. She didn't look at the questionnaire answers till we were checking out. Then she must've looked at them and, panicked, pulled us into an empty office, and dropped the bomb on me with no preamble that my son wrote that sometimes he wanted to kill himself. I started crying I was so upset and wound up questioning him myself because worker X was COMPLETELY UNINVOLVED AND USELESS!!!!!!!!!!!! She had no feedback and gave NO assistance to me. My son became upset that I was crying and tried to change his answer. I left the office crying and I'm still not sure if my son actually does feel like killing himself or if it's something kids say nowadays. I checked the Christian Psychotherapy website that evening and worker X is listed as an INTERN! They dumped my precious only son on a %$#@ retarded intern without even telling me. I'm complaining to the BBB and whatever ""medical"" association they are members of. Also, they were recommended to me because they wrangle money out of the insurance company for ADD testing because they code it a certain way. That's called insurance fraud and it's why everyone insurance rates are so high. Do not EVER use this place. RUN the other way! more

This office does not have a childs interest in the best of interest. They do not return phone calls. They mix up appointments. They put your child on a roller coaster ride not properly filling medications etc. You run into a problem where you need help, there is not one who can help you. Everyone is always g one, No one is in the office who can do anything. VERY disappointed with an office that carrys such a high name. Should not have to call the office over and over again and my child to have experienced what you put him through. SO please if your child suffers from Behavior or emotional problems and may need attention or constent medication this is not the place for you. more
