Welcome to Johnston Piano Service My brother manufactured pianos in the 1960s through the 1970s, which is how I became interested in piano tuning. I went and tuned at his companyCurrier Pianos factoryin my early teens. Currier Piano was Top 10 in the world in sales for several years. I majored in piano at East Carolina University. I auditioned for a European tour at the NC School of the Arts and studied piano with Clifton Mathews during the summer of 1976. In 1982, I earned a certificate in piano tuning at Central Piedmont Community College. I learned tuning from Clayton Harmon, who was inducted into thePiano Technicians Hall of Fame. I currently tune for churches, in the home, and for schools. Ive earned a reputation for giving accurate estimates that stay within family budgets (provided the client gives an accurate description of their piano.) I am expanding my business to include all new action parts on grand pianos and Im currently taking advanced classes in part replacements through thePiano Technicians Guild. I work on Studio, Console, Spinet, Upright and Grand pianos. I do on the spot repairs and tuning of pianos as well as reconditioning, regulating and cleaning. I replace parts when they are needed in complete sets for keytops, hammers, whippens and restringing. I replace and repair legs and have accountswith manufactures to replace parts that are broken.I am a Certified Dampp-Chaser Installer..
