Christ The King ( CTK ) congregation is one of the 5, 000 member churches of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Our local church was established in 1984, and has now grown to 490 members. The members of CTK are diverse and come from many locations around the country. Teachers, factory workers, homemakers, business owners, and professional people, active and retired, living in Gladwin, Beaverton, Sugar Springs, Wixom Lake, Secord Lake, Wiggins Lake and the surrounding area, make up the church body. It's a congregation where all of God's people are accepted, and we work at reaching out to those in need. The church building has been in it's current location for 15 years. The congregation began with a smaller building on Antler Street. We at Christ The King Lutheran Church don't claim to have all the answers, but we know for sure that Jesus Christ, Son of God, came into the world to save us from our sins. God's grace is overwhelming. We gather for worship to celebrate all the ways God blesses us and cares for us. We give thanks to God for the gift of forgiveness, and we work together to share that forgiveness with those we meet along life's road. Christianity is a life-long journey, and we hope you might join us on that journey! The Evangelical Lutheran Church believes that in communion Jesus Christ is present, and our sins are forgiven. All Christians who believe this are welcome to the communion table. First Communion instruction is open to children 3rd grade and up. The ministry of the congregation is shared by all, and members take an active role in leadership, mission, caregiving, and ministry. The Bible is our guide for life ; therefore Bible study is important in church programs. God conveys special gifts of grace to us through the Sacraments of Holy Communion and Baptism. In response to God's gifts of forgiveness, Christians serve others. The path of life is not always easy to walk. We find that we are better able to cope and celebrate within a Christian family. We invite you to become a part of our family! Pastor David Sprang serves the congregation as the full-time pastor. He has been an ordained Lutheran pastor for 25 years and has been at CTK for 10 years. He is a graduate of Capital University and has a Masters Degree from Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus, Ohio. Besides his duties as pastor he serves as a Gladwin Firefighter/Chaplain, a Habitat for Humanity volunteer, and a Lutheran Disaster Response Volunteer. He believes that Christians demonstrate their faith in actions, and as such, our congregation is always active. Families come in many different numbers and configurations. We strive to welcome families in many forms, two parent, single parent, blended, empty nest, and single. Jesus was welcoming to children and people of all ages. CTK has become an adopted family for many people whose families live a long distance away. We feel it is important to have a place to belong and people with whom to share life's ups and downs. Your family is always welcome at Christ the King. The youth of the church are partners with the whole congregation is mission and ministry. They are not just the leaders of the future, they are workers with us in the Kingdom of God right now. At Christ the King youth are involved in worship, service, and also manage to have fun. Music is important to our worship, and gives our talented people a chance to share with us and express thanks to God with voices and instruments., Lutheran
