Best

Awesome burgers. Fun casual atmosphere. Eclectic place. A definite ""must eat at"" when in San Antonio.

Worst

very expenisive, too hard to find and too long of a wait for lunch

Editorial review from Citysearch 5/30/2013

Great place! We had heard all of the hype around this place and it definitely lived up to its reputation. Great food, fun atmosphere, and excellent service. more

Best greasy burger in town! 12/2/2011

Don't believe the negative reviews! This place is a gem. 11/16/2011

What is with all of the negative reviews on CitySearch?! Are all the cyberbullies in San Antonio giving the ugly girl in home room the night off? Really people. Stop being miserable and mean, and stop trash talking people and businesses that have done nothing to you. Now on to the review. Chris Madrid's is a one of a kind place. Not only do they have one of San Antonio's best burgers, it has a very cool atmosphere. It's so refreshing to go to a true San Antonio establishment, with so many chains popping up around the city. It's the perfect place to relax on the patio with friends enjoying a burger and an ice cold beer. more

Over-priced food and rude waitstaff 9/28/2011

It was average at best; The food was cold and had to be sent back, where I'm sure they just stuck it in a microwave, making it completely inedible. The waiter was extremely rude and so was his gay boyfriend manager. more

Great Burger 8/8/2011

The burgers at Chris Madrids are great. I hate the neighborhood that it is located in and the parking sucks but all in all it is a good burger. more

Food isn't ""All That"" but it's Ok... 6/30/2011

Quality of food is Ok. Its extremely hard to make a burger taste bad. This place is the tacco belle of burgers. Over all, low quality ingredients, very dirty dining area, and not enough parking. Enough said! more

Hamburgers best in San Antonio??? 5/28/2011

Ok I came to City Search to find a place for great hamburgers. Chris Madrid's was at the top of the list... so we decided to give it a try. The first thing you notice is the place is in desperate need of work. The parking lot is an obstacle course (oh wait there's two parking lots!!) Then there are several entrances and no direction on where to go to order food. The menu is up on the wall and the place to order food is squished into a corner where you get your drinks. The restaurant has multiple sections and we had to ask someone for directions on where to go and what to do. Ok.. so atmosphere is low... but hey we are here for food. The staff is polite and friendly. The menu short n sweet. It was easy to order and pay. We ordered a Porky's Macho (bacon cheese burger) a small side of fries and two drinks. The total was $16.00. Then we went to find a table. We waited about 5 minutes and the buzzer thing went off. Picked up the food. 1st impression. Burger seemed huge and plenty of home made fries. Nice. We cut the burger in two, it was definitely enough food. The meat was well done and crumbly, reminded me of Freddy's. The lettuce was fresh, as were the tomatoes. The pickles were the right hamburger type. There was waaaayyy tooo much cheese. We took off most of it. Where's the bacon? two very thin strips of something that could have been bacon were on there.. so definitely not ""Porky"". The burger bun fell apart pretty fast after we cut the burger in two. We ended up eating it with a fork. The fries were good, not too salty, but somewhat soft and soggy. All in all, it was good. Not what I wanted. I was looking for one of those thick, juicy rare burgers w/ swiss cheese and thick apple smoke bacon. This was not it. Was it good? yes.. will we go back? maybe.. more

Damn'd good 5/20/2011

There is nothing like an ice cold shiner a greasy burger and a pile of fries to treat your taste buds to after a hard days work in the hot Texas sun and don't forget that music just makes it all go down well. I especially like that it is served of styrofoam plates and cups I aint got to worry about some under paid dishwasher messing up the dishes more

To the environmently nightmare 5/18/2011

I dont think you have a clue on how to run a business or how to save money to boot. If you have that much of a problem with it open your own resteraunt and try your own hand at it. other wise pull your thumb out of your a&s and comply with what they are doing or better yet dont disguard your trash in there, dispose of it your self. You recycle freak more

enviromental nightmare! 9/21/2010

It's so sad to see how many people are ignorant of the huge problems this ""restaurant"" generates. Drink cups and plates are exclusively stryfoam that are technically recyclable, but are sent to the landfill instead. This perverse owner could employ people as dishwashers, but instead chooses to throw everthing away. Any success this estabishment has is completely undeserved. The owner has obviously made a pact with the devil! more

Great Burgers 9/2/2010

I enjoy the great burgers and fries at Chris Madrids! This is one of my favorite places for lunch. more

Depend the ocaction 8/2/2010

For a hambrger and french fry it is good.\r For a nice lunch or diner: MESON EUROPEAN RESTAURANT OR LA CANARIA, Meson is romantic and good coktail at very good price, the food is very good. La Canaria We like the buffet. Pros: good for small budget. Cons: no health food more

Burger's busted 7/16/2010

The burgers are of average size; rather plain and a bit greasy. I had no problems with that, but the meat patty was too salty. It didn't matter that it was small or large....but it drives me crazy when restaurants add too much salt to the food. In this case the meat and fries. \r \r I have eaten better burgers around town and across the country and I would not list this restaurant as the number one place in San Antonio to get a burger. Your better off going to DQ and ordering a hunger buster or something. \r \r The service was slow the day I was there and it wasn't very crowded, but the staff was very friendly. \r \r ortizgm Pros: Interior was welcoming; friendly enviornment Cons: Burgers are overrated more

Why do people like this place soooo much? 6/8/2010

It has always been a mystery to me as to why people love this place so much. I believe that San Antonio is not the healthiest of places when it comes to food choice. This can be blamed on the population itself. The only comments that I ever hear about this place is that the burgers are hugh. Large portion size should not be the only thing that someone should look at when suggesting a place to eat. The burgers here are super greasy, and piled up high with bacon & cheese if you please. I have had way better burgers at Order Up which has a larger selection as to what can be added to the burger. Chris Madrids had me tasting a heart attack after 1/4 of the burger. It was gross and I couldn't think about eating another bite! My friend also ran over a nail in the so called ""parking lot"". Pros: price, outdoor seating Cons: greasy burgers, parking, rowdy drunk customers more

Good, not great 5/16/2010

I'm not a big fan of burgers that are squished flat so all the juicyness is gone. Yes, these burgers are ""super cheesy"" but the meat at the core is weak. The load of cheese drowns out the flavor of the burger. This is a good burger, even better than average due to the fixings, but it's the meat that must make a burger great. Not S.A.'s best burger, but it's in the top five. (along with 5 guys, Bob's, Chester's and Biff Buzby's) Pros: price, atmosphere, reputation Cons: Not the best burger more

What's the big deal? 2/7/2010

I have yet to figure out what is the big deal with Chris Madrids.... I wanted to figure it out for myself and sometimes the truth hurts. I have worked my way down through all their menu. I must tell you that their beef is the most un-appealing piece of meat that has ever been in my stomach. Very unsavory, not spiced very well and extremely greasy. Seriously this place makes my stomach hurt (their meat that is). The first time I though it was not a big deal, i didn't think that I was aching because I ate their burger, but after the 2nd time to feel the exact same way, coincidence? I think not. I learned my lesson the hard way and so now If i need to eat something from there, i settle for their chalupas (meatless that is) w/beans, lettuce, tomatoe, and cheese. Besides their ugly meat, everything else is alright. Its a nice place to gather around with your friends, they have a cute patio and you could enjoy a spurs game by the bar. But I still think it is ridiculous to think this place have ""amazing, savory, authentic"" burgers... don't even bother calling Food Network's Guy Fieri... don't waste his time and don't embarrass this town on a national level. Pros: great ambiance Cons: greasy nasty burgers... more
