Chop it up, the real... 8/15/2011

Good: The atmosphere is real and down to earth. Anybody looking for a bourgeoisie, wine sipping, metro-sexual beauty shop then stay the hell away. This is what it should be, people being people, and enjoying the basics in comradely.. Bad: That Avery got butt hurt when we snapped on him. Suck it up big boy! All in all, that is part of the good nature of the place, everyone feels at ease and actually enjoys a good laugh and being there. Oh but also KB not sharing his burritos.. Improvements: Avery shaving that Osama disguise off and getting cable in his busted apartment, man really, a big screen and a coat hanger antenna?!? Oh yeah, the appointment system needs refining, that and Avery's stiff commercial to advertise the website. He sounded like a kid reciting a speech in Sunday school class.. Other: Bring your wit and enjoy! This is a true black barbershop! If you can't take the heat, then have your momma cut your wig!. more

TRASHY LOW LIFE 3/15/2011

I was taken back by this place. Dirty and low class. Surprising because ALL of their reviews were positive. I think they wrote the reviews themselves. Prices are a little high for the simplicity. Not a place for kids. NO one greets you and the barbers seemed scary, like convicts. I was uncomfortable and my daughter was too. It wasn't their color, as we are African Americans, we just felt VERY unsafe. They seemed to be under the influence of some type of drugs. The floors were dirty and bathroom had urine on the floor. more

Pretty cool 1/31/2009

I would mos def recomend Chop It Up to any male who likes a clean-cut haircut, or cool designs in his hair. I used to go with my ex-boyfriend to get his haircut there every 2 weeks, and he won't go anywhere else. The owner is also one of the barbers, (entrepenuer) and if you go at least a few times a year they will remember you and what you like. they have a pool table, a playstation 2, and they started doing tattoos like a year ago but idk if i trust that part or not (barber shop & tattoo shop in one?) but as far as a haircut goes it's around $20 for whatever guys usually get... forget what it's called haha so like 5 bucks more expensive than other places but it's a nicer place, i have tried taking my current boyfriend there to get his hair done but woodinville is a little out of the way... i'll get him to go one day though because it's only the best more

Looking Sharp with Chop it Up 6/15/2008

If you want a real haircut, at a real barbershop, chop it up is the place to go. They do all the extras like trimming your beard, goatee and mustache to make it look sharp, clean and neat. On my recent visit I was very pleased with the cut, my 7 year old got a nice haircut too. We even tried new styles. Something I wouldn't try at Great Clips or Supercuts. They didn't hurry through the haircut, they do take their time but they do a good job. When you walk in you feel comfortable, its like walking into my favorite sports bar,(where everybody knows your name) they gotta pool table, playstation 2 big screen and hip hop playing in the background. While I waited for my son to get his cut, I played pool with one of the employees. The walls are full of signatures, some famous too. After the haircut they asked us to sign the wall. Chop it Up is not just a place to get a good hair cut, its an experience that is fun. My kid cant wait for his hair to grow out again so that he can go Chop it Up again. Me and my son will be regulars at Chop it Up and I will recomend it to all my friends. . more

Good Cut, Hip. 2/12/2007

"Chop It Up" is a real barbershop, not a hair salon. If you want glossy fashion magazines, potted plants and perky female stylists, this isn't it. One wall has signatures on it, and there's a pool table in the middle. No pretty walls separate the stations, or even the cutting areas from the waiting area. We're talking straight-out old-style barbershop. "Chop It Up" adds a specialization in "designs", meaning cropped cuts with patterns or team logos shaved in. See their (poorly-built) MySpace page at www.myspace.com/chopitupbarbershop for some images. The shop is located in the strip mall next to Molback's, across the street from Firestone Tire, near Goodyear Tire, right in the heart of downtown Woodinville. Not precisely where you expect to find a shop for the more hip clientele, but they've been there for about two years. The Good: Fine haircut. Unlike some places/stylists, he remembered and did perform a specific bit of thinning. The entire cut was done with electric trimmers with a variety of attachments, the first time I can remember that no scissors were used, but it worked just fine. Good job wrapping up the neck to avoid stray hairs. The Bad: No negative points. I could have done without whatever he applied at the end. It smells like a decent cologne, but I don't wear scents generally. Comments: The cost for a straight no-wash cut is $20, about $5 more than normal in Woodinville, but then again, the cut was better than average in Woodinville. I didn't notice any facilities for shampoo anyhow. As haircuts in Woodinville go, this was one of the better ones and one I'm more likely to return to. more
