The most caring veterinarians and staff! 7/26/2011

Yesterday I took my 2 cats to the Barnegat Animal Clinic for the first time. They were highly recommended by a friend. From the moment I walked in the staff impressed me with their enthusiasm and love for animals. As I sat in the waiting room I spoke to other pet owners who expressed how much they liked the veterinarians and staff and had been going there for years. Dr Andy Wurst examined my cats thoroughly and explained what he was checking for. I never felt I was being rushed nor did he try to sell me expensive pet products that my 2 previous vets had done. I felt like the office was like a family and everybody knew each other as friends. That sentiment was important to me. They are very fairly priced and the care my 2 cats received was second to none. I highly recommend them. more

I would never recommend! 7/12/2011

Worse than awful! I cannot stress enough how hurt and angry I am with this establishment. I have trusted Dr. Stephen Wurst and his staff with my beloved pet's routine health care for the last eleven years. Last week I took my 8 year old Abyssinian cat to the clinic because he was limping and showed signs of being ill. He was thoroughly examined by Dr. Weithenauer and her diagnosis was a sprained leg and/or nerve damage, she wasn't sure. I now know that my cat was suffering from congestive heart failure, which is an enlarged heart, an irregular heartbeat, and fluid in the lungs. NONE of these CLEAR symptoms were noticed by her. Two days later, during the holiday weekend, I had to have the cat euthanized at an emergency animal hospital. Heartbroken and searching for answers I contacted Dr. Wurst by telephone. He admittedly told me ""We dropped the ball"" and ""It happens."" It was stated as if it happens often, and it was acceptable. His attitude was callous, indifferent, and insensitive. He did not make any attempt to apologize or offer relief for the $800 in vet bills I am now responsible for. The last remark he made was ""Yeah, I'll get back to ya."" I have not heard a word from him since nor has Dr. Weitenauer ever contacted me. This is an unacceptable way to treat customers and more importantly a deadly attitude for the animals being treated there. BEWARE ANIMAL LOVERS - all is not what it seems at this facility!\r \r more
