I found the Chittamani Buddhist Center almost by accident some six years ago and I've attended most Sunday mornings ever since. Those 9:30 am classes are great -- they're my way of starting each week in a peaceful, loving environment with teachings on compassion, relaxing chanted prayers, meditation and, most of all, the teachings of wisdom from the wonderful resident teacher, Kelsang Inchug. I can't recommend the center enough for people in search of a spiritual path. All the teachings follow traditional Buddhist wisdom, targeted toward real everyday problems. Want to overcome anger? Learn to be more compassionate? Meet people in a calm, loving and fun atmosphere? This is the place!
Pros: Spiritual teachings in a loving atmosphere
Cons: Location can be tricky -- it's on Manchaca in a little shopping center behind the Half Price Books on South Lamar
