Chirps Chicken & Rice

I went for lunch, and it was pretty busy. It looks old and dirty, but don't judge a book by its cover. I saw plenty of City of Houston work trucks there picking up food, so I figured it's a Hungry Man kind of place. more

I have become addicted! The food is greatly priced and you get so much for your dollar! The owners are the sweetest people ever and they treat you like family, I love Chinese food and this place is a must for a budget and for good service!!!! ths place is GREAT. while i doubt that it's going to top anyones list of ""best"" in town, it's ALWAYS good to even quite good. family run (very amusing young son!) and very friendly! one of the best $5 takeout lunch specials you'll find anywhere near the heights area! As I came to the restaurant, it looked like any ordinary chinese fast food joint, but as I walked in I noticed the place was run by a family. It was one of those classic mom and pop shops in a time of big franchises. I approach the counter to see an array of many things to choose from Sweet and sour shrimp to Moo goo gai pan to the classic Shrimp fried rice. I chose to have the Pork fried rice and before I can even walk away, my food was done. I took a bite and it was amazing. It had the perfect combination of seasoning and was stir fried to perfection. If any of the other entrees was half as good as the rice, I strongly recommend this place for anyone looking for affordable food with the best taste.
