Living off reputation 11/23/2009

This diner was a very good place to eat 7-8 years ago-no more. They are living off their reputation. The food and service have definitely taken a nose dive. Of course all the locals think its great, thats because the don't know any better. After not going there for quite a while I went back and it sucked. How is it possible to screw an order for a regular cheeseburger? Blow past this place and go to the Mexican Restuarant able a mile down the road. If you want a great burger go to Bloomers Landing next to Hadlock Building Supply. Avoid this place... more

Chimacum Cafe 4/23/2006

Looks like a local eatery from the outside and once inside - it's wonderfully refreshing. Service is excellent, there's a friendly 'down home' atmosphere, and the menu variety if impressive. Huge portions, delicious, fresh and comforting food is served here. The pancakes fill up a full sized dinner plate, for instance. (And, they're scrumptious!) Prices are good. more

Homemade pies are out of this world! 8/5/2005

The Chimacum Cafe is right on the highway in Chimacum (between 101 and Port Townsend). Every time my family goes to Pt. Townsend or that general direction on the Olympic Peninsula we try to stop at the cafe. It doesn't look very special from the road, just another old roadside cafe, and the decor is typical old cafe style. But I don't go there for the ambience; it is the food I go for. Most specifically the pie. And in summer, the wild blackberry pie. It is out of this world (either ala mode or plain)! The slices are large, and the scoop of vanilla ice cream with it is generous (if you like your pie ala mode). I have sampled over a dozen kinds of pie there (they always have 20 or so fresh pies on hand) and have never been disappointed. The rest of the food there is good, but be warned that most things come in farmer sized portions! The salads are huge; they could feed 2 people easily. The burgers and fries and delicious and the soups are hearty. I usually eat half my meal and take the leftovers home for lunch the next day. While you can get by spending less than $10 for a meal, I usually cannot resist their pies and that will push it over the $10 price mark. I have also never seen this place without half the tables taken; during busy times there can be a wait. more
