I can't say that I understand the appeal of Chili Johns. It's always packed, and I've heard that it's a local favorite. They only serve one thing, meaty chili. Order your chili "wet" and they'll add extra grease. Order your chili "dry" and the grease is minimal, but still disgusting. Though they have been there forever, give them some credit for that. If you love chili, this might be the place for you, but it's definitely not for me.
