My 6 year old had a small cavity that needed to be filled. He was scared and after they started the nitrous oxide I was told that I could not stay in the room with him. He was so frightened, but the doctor refused to allow me to remain in the room for what was to be a 15 minute procedure....citing it was his "office policy". We left before they could proceed. I contacted a pediatric dentist's office in the Woodlands where they were welcoming to a parent remaining in the room to comfort the child and help it go as smooth as possible. Relieving the child's fear is not the primary goal of Children's Dental Center as is advertised
Pros: the pros do not outweigh the cons
Cons: Primary concern is NOT relieving child's fear
