Editorial review from Citysearch 2/28/2013

\r Dr. Kevin Moulin of Childersburg Pet Clinic is a wonderful veterinarian. We took a really special cat to him for a second opinion. Cinnamon had frequent kidney/bladder infections. We had spent a great deal of money on office visits and antibiotics over a three month period and had been told by our former veterinarian that we needed to think about having Cinnamon 'put to sleep'. I couldn't stand the idea of having to do this to an otherwise healthy and rather young animal. I took Cinnamon to Dr. Kevin Moulin. On the first trip, Dr. Moulin ran some tests and did a culture. It turned out that Cinnamon was taking the wrong antibiotic for 3 months [not to mention the pain the poor animal was in]. After one week of an antibiotic for the type of infection that Cinnamon had, he returned to 100% health and stayed that way. Cinnamon lived 8 more years. We started bringing all of our pets to Dr. Moulin. All new cats and dogs have been neutered or spayed by Dr. Moulin. He is kind and quiet spoken. Dr. Moulin relies on sound medical knowledge. He keeps abreast of new methods/treatments and medications. He explains what he does for the animal. He answers all questions in a way that a non-medical person can understand. I have had animals that have lived long healthy lives but later in life have health conditions causing them great discomfort. Dr. Moulin lets the family decide the path to choose. We have chosen for several of our animals to have a peaceful death. Dr. Moulin and his staff schedule a time in which you can be with your pet. He spends as much time with the family and the pet as needed. We have been given extra time alone with our pet to say, ""Good-bye"". He came in during his off time/office closed when a special dog had a stroke. My husband and I can't say enough good things about Dr. Moulin. He loves our animals almost as much as we do. Dr. Moulin is more than just 'a guy' who gives pets a rabies shot once a year. He diagnoses illnesses and causes before he treats. He uses his medical training the same way a medical doctor does when a human patient is ill. He encourages wellness procedures before problems arise. I have referred several of my friends to Childersburg Pet Clinic for their special pet friends. All have been just as impressed as my family.\r \r \r \r \r \r \r \r \r \r \r \r \r more

I don't know what happened to Dr Moulin. I have to concur with the other less than satisfactory reviews. His staff has gone down hill and you cannot get through on the phone. He does not respond to any emergency care, and always pushes extra tests/treatments without clearly explaining why the animals needs the extra's. The staff is difficult to work with and simply immature. I discoverd some very disturbing concerns about his treatment after I had to take my dogs to another vet because we could not reach him for an emergency. he is not up to date with care , but very up to date with teeth cleaning for $400. more

Excellent Childersburg Vet 1/15/2011

Dr. Moulin is especially caring and generous. He has always had a staff who are helpful and understanding. In his business, too many take for granted and take advantage. His services are up front so the payment needs to be up front; however, I know he is willing to work with anyone who is willing to work with him in the care of their pet. I highly recommend him and his team. His prices are very reasonable. Check out any big city prices. We have used Dr. Moulin for at least 17 years and he has always taken time to explain things, been compassionate, and very knowledgeable even for rare diagnoses. Our senior cat has IBD and hyperthyroidism. We've taken dogs, cats, and exotic birds to him. more

Great Vet!!! 6/16/2010

We have used Dr. Moulin for about 8 years and love him. I was surprised at the negative reviews. I am also aware that most people do not post a review unless they have a complaint. We have always been happy and have referred many friends. His prices are the lowest that we have found (and we have checked all around the area). The wait time is usually not bad either. \r There is a sign that says services have to be paid for on the date rendered. Most offices have a similar sign. I also own a business and sadly, you cannot extend credit and expect payment later. I have seen many businesses close, not because of lack of clientel, but because of lack of payment for services rendered. more

Only cares about money 4/28/2010

This vet was treating my dog. Charging $41 dollars every 2 weeks for a skin treatment. Started charging even more b/c he said that my dog had to be sedated every visit b/c she scratched a nurse. I asked if I could just buy the treatment from them and do it myself to save them the trouble and me money. He told me that you couldnt get that medication over the counter and I HAD to have it done there. I checked around and found out that other vets are selling the same medication over the counter for $18 for enough to do 4 treatments. That would have cost me $164 using him. Total rip off! Also if you are using him I hope you never have to call with an emergency or question b/c his nurses are continuously talking on the phone and it stays busy. After hours emergencies you can hang it up b/c you WILL NOT be able to reach him. Pros: None Cons: All more

Cut off my cat's toes without permission 11/20/2009

I brought my that WAS Polydactyl. I re-iterate WAS. They were supposed to simply remove the extra claw between the extra toe and the normal toe. Instead, the vet decided to take it upon himself to CUT OFF HIS EXTRA TOE!!! So, my cat is no longer Polydactyl. Further, he was supposed to be Microchipped. Guess what, he was not. I don't know who runs that place, but I will find the owner, and someone will pay dearly for this. Totally unacceptable. FURIOUS. more

Childersburg Pet Clinic is great! 8/13/2009

My regular vet was out of town and my dog had to have her medication. Dr. Moulin was GREAT! He was warm and friendly. Reading the other reviews surprises me, because the staff were all super nice. I agree the BIG sign in the lobby is a bit tacky, but I guess he has burned so many times. I actually thought about using Dr. Moulin full time! more

Something Fishy 7/14/2009

The staff at Childersburg Pet Clinic are all obnoxious, rude, and uppity. Maybe lifetime clients are treated well, but if you're looking for a new vet, it ain't the place for you. I was told by a girl named Renae that they only accept cash, (crazy, right?) but then another girl told me they also accept credit cards. Plus there's the big gawdy sign Philip T. mentioned on here, it's the first thing you see in their lobby area. There's something weird going on at this pet hospital, I suggest staying away. more

Thumbs up!! 12/15/2008

If you want a vet that cares, Dr. Moulin is the one! He always takes time to answer my questions and all of my pets love him. It is nice to know that a doctor will take the time to explain things to you. I have used other vets in the past but can't imagine using anyone else now. Keep up the good work. more

Greed has taken over this business.... 10/3/2008

Childersburg Pet Clinic USED to be a great place; good prices, very personable employees... but now they have gone the route of other vets/pet clinics that have gotten "too big for their britches".\r \r There was a time, (before they built their "new & improved" pet clinic), that Dr. Moulin was more concerned about the animals than the buck. But like most good things, that time has come to an end. Now, when you enter Childersburg Pet Clinic, you are greeted with a huge, super-tacky sign of non-paying clients. I have always paid my bill fully on time, but that sign is still a really big turn-off. They should address non-paying clients the same way all other businesses do. Dr. Moulin now seems to think that his clinic is the only place where people can get good health care for their pets - kind of a superiority complex. \r \r If you want a good veterinarian who is more concerned about your animals than money - go to Animal House in Harpersville instead. It's worth the extra couple of miles, more

Dr. Moulin is a great Veterinarian! 11/11/2005

Dr. Moulin and his staff at Childersburg Pet Clinic are amazing. They are warm and friendly and can almost always fit someone in for a last minute appointment. They seem to genuinely care about the animals and that can be hard to find. They seem to be average in price, but they do offer a multiple-pet discount. I would definitely recommend them. more
