Authentic Mexican ""Street Food"" 9/30/2010

We love this place but there's a learning curve. The dinners are delicious! I can't speak for the brunches but I think they've stopped serving them -- not really their forte, perhaps. Also note, they are closed on Wednesdays. They offer HUGE, affordable pitchers of margaritas made with deliciously smooth tequilla that is made by the owner's family in Mexico. Try the encheladas verdes (if you like spicey) or the hurache tinga if you like something a little milder. Tostada Nopalitos (cactus tostada) is a super-cheap and delicious appetizer for one -- $2.50 as of the moment. Staff is friendly, often overworked and never subservient. Order your drinks just as you sit down because they do take awhile. Very kid friendly but you might want to wipe down the high chair. Remember you're in the 'hood, give them respect and be friendly and patient and this place is a wonderful find. But if you are looking for Federal Hill service, what the heck are you doing in Olneyville ordering $6-10 entrees? more

A restaurant with a lot potential.. but falling over and over again 5/11/2008

The restaurant has good ambiance. All the furniture was hand carbed in Mexico. The bar has horse saddles stools, really cool! The drinks are delicious and creative (guava margarita, beer martini, and the list goes on). The food seems to be authentic, it's good but not outstanding. I been there several times, and consistently the service is inconsistent. The drinks take for ever, one time I was half way done with my meal when my guava margarita finally came. Today I went there for mothers day brunch. The breakfast meals were dull, no creativity whatsoever. We had to wait a while for the coffee and then wait a while longer for the milk. They allowed no substitutions or additions, we try to order a side order of chorizo and the waitress said we couldn't do it. I regret having gone there on a special day. Pros: Drinks Cons: Bad service more

As close as you're going to get in Rhode Island 2/21/2005

Decent food, decent atmosphere, decent service, good price. The place is small, but that adds to it's charm. Tacos are great, but almost everything on the menu is good. more
