Worst experience ever! 12/5/2011

Sarah is rude and unprofessional. She butchered my hair. Do not go to her! Luckily I got my money back. I NOW have to go to another salon (Colours) so they can try to fix her mistakes!!! She should be BANNED from cutting people's hair. Trust me, do not go to her...you will regret it!!! I sure did! more

OMG Best Salon Eva!!!!!! 6/21/2010

I came in and was greeted by friendly smiles. Ariel proceeded to give me an amazing shampoo and scalp massage. She was so friendly and made me feel right at home. I am really picky when it comes to haircuts. I have tried other salons in Boulder and until now I have walked away unsatisfied. I finally found my salon and stylist for life!!!! LIZ SAVED MY HAIR! 8/1/2009

I have been going to LIz for about 8 or 9 years but recently I had started to lose some hair (menopause I think) and on a vacation my hair was lying flat on my head and in a moment of insanity I took scissors to it and ""cut some layers""...after a 2 month odessy of trying to even it all out, I was almost there! It was looking pretty darn good but there were some pieces in the back I couldn't quite reach and I didn't want Liz to see it unless it was a bit more presentable. So I thought I'd go to someone else just to get it evened out a bit. I got a recommendation from a friend who told me that her guy was ""fabulous"". I made an appointment and explained to him that the general shape and length was perfect but I just wanted some of the back parts evened out a bit and he agreed telling me that he would have to do very little. Pros: QUALITY - KEEPS UP WITH LATEST TRENDS - EXCELLENT PRODUCTS Cons: Too far away-will you consider moving to Longmon?LOL more

Great Service at a Fair Price 11/4/2008

I got a great service at a great price! I've been to Chicago Hair a few times. Finding a good hair salon is very important to a girl. Sometimes they have a stylist in training, charging 1/2 price. Palmer was the new stylist who did my hair. I was really comfortable after the consultation. Two weeks later ,I love my haircut and highlights. I think I have a new stylist at Chicago Hair, even at full price. Palmer, you are going to be really poular hairstylist! Pros: Friendly well trained staff Cons: None that I can think of more

Best Hair Cut Ever Received 10/12/2008

I had the best time at Chicago Hair Salon. My hair dresser was Shauna and I will be going to her for a very long time. She worked around my schedule to get me in. She has done the best dye job I've ever received. (Usually I would have splotches of dye close to my scalp, and it didn't happen with her.) She was friendly, and it was like I was at home, hanging out with a friend. I don't care so much if the person is young, it is more important they give a great hair cut, which is what I received. I told her all the things I wanted and she exceeded my expectations. GREAT JOB! Pros: A great hair cut Cons: If I could afford it, I would go more often. more

Overpriced 10/10/2008

I was a first time client at Chicago Hair because I couldn't get in with my usual salon. I was very disappointed when I left them, to say the least. Their prices are sky-high and the service is mediocre. The staff is very young (minus the 2 owners), yet their charges are equivalent to very experienced stylists. The receptionist they have was very short with me and was clearly just doing her routine job. The stylist I had was not very friendly and didn't bother to get to know me. I was content with the color, but shocked when they told me my total. Since I had one of their younger stylists, I was expecting a much lower price. I would not reccomend this salon to anyone, especially since Boulder is full of great salons with reasonable prices. Pros: They take walk-ins Cons: Price and customer sevice more

Best cut and color in Boulder 9/4/2008

After years of spending money trying to find a salon to get a great cut and color, I recently stumbled upon my new favorite place. On my first visit I was greeted by the receptionist and was able to see Shauna right away. Shauna gave me one of the best haircuts I have ever got in Boulder and the color came out even better. I highly recommend this salon to anyone who is tired of mediocre color and haircuts from other Boulder salons. Thanks Shauna and Ill be seeing you again soon! best haircut in years! 9/3/2008

After years of bad hair cuts from barber shops in Boulder I found Chicago Hair online. Most of the reviews were by women, but I felt very comfortable there as a man. Meredith cut my hair and did an excellent job. She was easy to communicate with, and seemed to know what kind of haircut would fit me well. This place is a little expensive, but you definitely get your money's worth in service. more

My hair turned out wonderful. 8/31/2008

I think everyone knows the difficulty in finding a hairstylist that can follow through in giving you what you ask for. I made an appointment atr Chicago Hair for a color and a haircut, and not only did I receive what I asked for but she suggested a change in my color that I wasn't aware was possible. I have been a medium to dark brown color but wanted a change so Shauna gave me a rich brown with subtle highlights. This alteration uplifted my appearance and made a positive change for me. I am extremely satisfied with my entire appointment and will be sure to visit Chicago Hair again. Pros: Shauna gave me a wonderful color. more

Great Place for a Hair Cut! 7/21/2008

Meredith is one of those great hair stylist every woman hopes to find: she can see what she wants to do with your hair before she ever picks up her scissors. The results, as a woman elsewhere in the salon said when Meredith finished taking my hair from mid-back length to above my chin, is ""Fabulous."" And the cut she gave me is VERY low maintenance--wash it, dry it part way, shape it a bit with fingers and a brush and it is good to go. Get windblown or mashed under a hat--no problem. I can bring it right back with the brush and fingers! Give yourself a treat. Have Meredith cut your hair--and, incidentally, she is also a great colorist. Pros: Talented staff, nice atmosphere Cons: A bit far out of the center, a little pricy perhaps more

The best in town 7/19/2008

I've been going to Liz for years and she always gets my color and cut right! My hair is very curly and unruly and she's always very patient with it, making it look reeeeaaallly good.I wish she could do my hair everyday =) Recently (June of 2010) I started seeing Ariel. The service was excellent and the prices were great! Pros: Excellant Service, Great Price, Free Drinks! Cons: parking and entrance in back--- remember it! more

Price Gouging 7/18/2008

I was gouged on the price of highlights for my very short hair. Meredith did a nice job on color and cut but then charged full cost for 2 colors, toner, re-application of color (I am not clear that this even occured), etc... Owners were not responsive to my concerns that the cost was excessive. I will not recommend salon. Pros: proficient cut and color Cons: not worth the cost more

Chicago Hair Rocks....I'm done with Lather. Shauna gets an A+ in every Category, she is always very friendly and fun to talk with. I would highly recommend Shauna! got color right the first time 5/16/2008

After many dismal experiences with other salons, a friend referred me to Chicago Hair. There I found a soothing and professional atmosphere with friendly staff. I was in need of a color touch-up and braced myself for the 'rusting scalp' outcome that every other salon gave me before getting my color right. My dark brown hair always pulls red, even when using an ash base. I was AMAZED when David got my color perfect with his first attempt. That had never happened before! He also did a fabulous job of cleaning up my cut and recommended some products that really work for my hair type. I highly recommend David and Chicago Hair. Consistently great haircuts for curly hair 4/17/2008

I have very curly, difficult to work with hair. I have been going to Liz for haircuts for about 4 years. She gives me great haircuts-which include a relaxing scalp massage. What I most appreciate about Liz is that she spends a lot of time listening to what worked and didn't work with the last haircut. She has told me she believes you have to be able to be frank about what you want and she walks that talk. I feel very comfortable telling her about changes I want to make. I appreciate the time she takes to do this and feel that this quality is what makes her an exceptional hairstylist. more

Makes even the craziest hair look good 4/3/2008

I have absolutely unruly and impossible curly hair, which I had been trying at various lengths over the year. I had it cut short about 7 years ago, and it looked awful, so I decided never to do it again. However, having long hair was getting to be a pain and I never had the time or incentive to do anything with it. Grudgingly, I decided to give short hair another try. I went to David at Chicago Hair (although I'm sure anyone there is fantastic). Not only did I get splendid, attentive service and a fabulous head massage, but I was convinced for the first time in my life that short hair can look good on me! I went in with only a few pictures of a haircut that looked vaguely like what I wanted, and explained a little bit what I was going for. 45 minutes later I came out and I had exactly what I wanted! I go to school in Boston, but I'm definitely planning on waiting until the next time I come home to Boulder to get my hair cut again. Pros: Great haircut, great atmosphere Cons: Costs more than a cost-cutters haircut, but worth it! more

SO RELAXING 3/19/2008

I just got my hair cut the other day at Chicago Hair and I'm SO happy with it. I'd been to other salons (Zing and Fix) and wasn't happy with my cut or color and didn't really like the atmosphere--too loud and too crazy. When I walked into Chicago Hair, it was immdiately different...the receptionist was really friendly and offered me a hot cup of tea and went to get the stylist right away. The salon is really cute and you just feel really relaxed as soon as you walk in the door. Pros: loved the salon, great consultation, very skilled Cons: parking is in the back-- make sure you remember that! more
