I just dined here with my boyfriend and we had a very nice time. It's small so make a reservation. We were lucky to snag the last (2) seater available. Tables are very close together and we sat outside (by choice)..very noisy street :( . Very good wine menu our choice was great. The menu was interesting and we enjoyed our meals, but they didn't exactly wow us. Skip dessert though, the chocolate mousse lacked flavor and they are overpriced. The prices do not warrant themselves in my opinion. Great service. Overall a nice night out, but no draw to return. I may return for the 50% off wine on Sundays, for drinks only though. The menu at this restaurant is incredibly fun! Well prepared dishes with interesting flavor combinations and generous portions. We ran across this restaurant on a Sunday and found out the wine was 50% off - a great excuse to have an amazing bottle of white burgundy we normally would have felt guily buying. Horrible attitude from the hostess! Simply ruined the entire experience. Walked in on a week night at 9 and was given the rudest welcome ever experienced dinning out. Actually overhead the hostess making nasty comments about us for walking in ""so late""! Ridiculous attitude for a so-so French in suburban CT! Love, love, LOVE Chez Jean! Excellent food with intriguing specials. Excellent wine list (and they have a special on Sundays...bottles are discounted!) Really cozy ambience...you really feel like you're in a French bistro in France. It's a nice escape out of the daily grind in Stamford. The service is great (they don't rush you to get out, Jean Pierre is always willing to accomodate you) and overall, it's an absolutely wonderful experience.
