Great aesthetics, grounds, poor personalities/hospitalities 10/8/2009

We hosted our wedding at this location. Aesthetics were beautiful, the scenery, and the Inn. But we ran into quite a few problems along our journey.\r 1. In planning the wedding, (we planned over a year out) our guests reservations that had been made 100% by phone (not web) and confirmed via email, and a few were canceled, and wrong sporadically through the planning period. The Inn placed the blame on our wedding planner and our guests, and even their website, which was absolutely not the case.\r \r 2. The bridal party and family stayed in one of their houses that were supposed to sleep 12 people. When we arrived, the staff was hardly inviting, the cabin’s furnace room smelled like natural gas, and three of the door knobs came off. The rooms in the hotel were much better looking but just as shoddy. As we entered a cabin, there was a coffeepot that had not been cleaned out, and was growing mold on the filter past a stage that could be cleaned. They didn’t have any other coffee pots to replace this one on the entire property so all 9 of us had to trudge over to the main house in the morning. The Property manager argued with the Groom that we were lucky to even get a coffee pot as the other cabin did not have one.\r \r 3. The cabin was lacking towels, hand soap, any extra blankets, and pillows for the pull out couches; so we proceeded to ask the staff for these simple items. We thought we were staying in a resort, not a camp ground. The staff scowled at these requests and informed us that we were supposed to bring everything. They proceeded to bring us 3 towels for 12 person cabin. \r \r 4. There is a party that goes on every Friday night, and was told we were allowed to attend, so we joined in the fun and had a great time. Participants brought in their own alcohol, and we even asked the two staff members at the door of the tent, not a word was said to them by the staff at the time that this was not allowed. Later that night, the Property Manager scolded the Groom for doing so and refuted that his staff allowed such antics.\r \r 5. Apparently someone upset the property manager, who approached the groom and announced that he was going to call the cops and if he doesn’t control his groomsmen, he’ll “grab them by the neck and kick their a** off the property.” This was a verbal threat that many can verify.\r \r 6. The following day, (wedding day) the reception was grand although the staff was very inhospitable, no smiles, not even looking at anyone from the wedding guests in the eye, stayed clear of our party (thank god!), except during the reception where they PERSONALLY threatened to physically throw out a few of our guests (including a bridesmaid!) for having drinks purchased in the tent, outside the tent yet still on their property. (We didn’t get it either.)\r \r We are a group that likes to have fun, it’s a wedding celebration, but we’re never overly rowdy or disturbing to anyone. This place acted like they had never held a wedding where alcohol was present. So if you don’t mind a property that’s idea of service is serving themselves, and will not take responsibility for anything that they do, and makes it a policy to threaten guests at every opportunity, this is your kind of place!\r Pros: Aesthetics, location, lake Cons: Staff, Manager, communication more

PERFECTION !!!!!!! 11/18/2007

This truly is a hidden gem in middle and upstate New York. We just had our wedding reception there in the middle of October (our guests stayed there as well) We loved the service of the staff, the food, the rooms were luxurious, the bathrooms are amazing, our bartender was amazing and the location and layout on the Lake is absolutely perfect. Every single one of our guests said they loved every aspect and will come back to visit. The grooms immediate family rented the cottage on the property for the long weekend and with their own private dock and fireplace they were in heaven as well (he had to force the grooms mother to leave when it was over!) We will be sure to visit again sometime soon and were thrilled at how perfect they made our big day! Highly recommended.\r Pros: Too long to list, hidden gem for a value Cons: What cons? more
