If I could give less than a one star rating, I would. This was my first and last visit to this veterinary clinic. I came to this clinic out of necessity as my female Maine Coon cat appears to have fallen and hurt her hip. I decided to bring my other Maine Coon for both to have their annual check up. Ashley Blum took both cats' vitals and were seen by Dr. Leslie Meko. Dr. Meko suggested senior panel for my female Maine Coon and the same for my other Maine Coon at a later date. Since I had both cats there and they are brother and sister, I agreed to go ahead with a senior panel for both. When Dr. Meko pick my male Maine Coon up to take him in the back for the blood collection, I aske if I could go and she said ""No, I have Ashley to help me."" During the attempted blood collection, my male cat let out screeches like he was being hurt. Honestly, it sounded like they were killing him. His painful screeches cause another customer in the lobby to go into the back and ask ""Is that Lucy?"" After the second loud and painful screech, I went into the back. I was absolutely shocked at what I heard and saw. Ashley Blum had my cat by the scruff of the neck, where he has a tumor that was examinted by Dr. Meko. Holding him in this inappropriate fashion above her head and yelling at him: ""We'll have none of that."" I took my cat and carried him back to the exam room. Dr. Meko followed. She suggested sedation for blood collection in the future. I told her No and that was not going to happen. My cat is 10 years old and this was not his first blood collection. I was with him in the exam room for his first blood collection at another Veterinary Clinic. They drew the blood in the exam room and did not move him to another location. He did fine and didn't struggle at all. Ms. Blum should be reprimanded and sent to sensitivity training on proper animal handing at the least, if not terminated. I'm sure my pet is not the first or last to be treated in this horrific unprofessional manner. I voiced my concerns to Dr. Meko to which she justified Ms. Blum's inappropriate and unprofessional behavior by saying ""Sometimes we say and do things out of a reaction."" I'm shocked that no one from this clinic called me today to ask how my male cat is doing. I guess doing so would admit fault and accept responsibility. Prior to this horrible vet visit, my male cat was able to jump onto the bed without any difficulty. Today he cannot. I'm positive this is due to improper handling by Cherrydale Veterinary Clinic Staff, to include Ms. Blum, during the attempted blood collection. The only follow up was an automated email survey. I will NEVER go back to this vet clinic and I will NEVER recommend this vet clinic to anyone.
