At around 12:15-12:25 am on Monday, May 8, 2006 I went to check and to get some sort of document that would tell me about my cat (which my husband had told me he took in after finding him deceased in our yard on Wed. of last week -- he informed me of this on Saturday, after I had been searching for my cat all those days!!!) Anyway, the attendants looked at the computer several times, but no one ever gave me a straight answer to whether my cat had even been brought in. The doctor was out in the waiting area so I asked him what is done with dead animals and whether, more specifically, my cat had been brought in. He checked the computer and asked me about other animals my husband and I have/had and then went to the back (presumably where they keep deceased animals in a freezer). He then came in and told me that a group left out this morning to be cremated. I asked him if my cat was among those and if I could please have some sort of document telling me about his status, condition. He then became very irate and said we should have taken him to a place in Asheville that does pathology. I tried to explain again that I had not brought my cat in and did not know about it until Saturday. He told me I would have to leave, that I was being too difficult.
I was shocked by his unfriendly behavior. He told me I was not "helping" him out because I had not brought my other animals in. On my way out, he pushed the door behind me where it actually pushed me!!!
I find his behavior heartless and greedy. I would have been more than happy to pay him for some sort of paper that described what they had done with my cat or how he had been brought in. I wanted some sort of closure. Apparently, this guy gets irate at the drop of a hat and is all about the money.
I have friends who told me they would never go back to this place, but they never went into details. Another friend today told me about this doctor being "aggressive."
My horrible experience with not knowing what happened to my cat was exacerbated by his uncaring and harsh attitude. This doctor's desire for money is evidently all he cares about.
There ARE other places, I am sure, in this area that would not treat a grieving person like this. Now I just have to GUESS at what happened to my cat.
