Dr. Chen reverses many of the HMO stereotypes. Typically, at an HMO you get anonymous doctors who try to be in the room with you for as little time as possible. They'll write you prescriptions, but will generally not know anything about you. Dr. Chen is different.
She works at a small medical building in the Monterey Park area with her husband and father-in-law. She spends a lot of time asking questions, going beyond just what you came in for. She communicates concerns and everything very well. For a regular appointment, she will spend a good 20-30 minutes in the room with you asking questions and checking things.
She also doesn't hesitate to refer you to specialists or for lab work.
