Hasenauer horror 3/30/2011

Dr.Hasenauer was our family Dr. for a short while, and I can confirm that reports of arrogance and dismissive uninterested behavior on his part are accurate. I can also confirm that he does seem fond of telling people to go to the ER, rather than evaluating and advising himself. He is so enamored of his own creamy goodness that there is little room in his office for both his ego and your health concerns. I've never been to a worse physician. more

Quothe the Raven 2/12/2011

I came on these sights to see reviews on Dr. Hasenauer, wondering if anyone else had noticed the things about him that I found disturbing and unsettling. (which resulted in my pulling our entire family out of his office) I am now, more than ever, convinced that this Dr. needs to be looked into by a review board. Everything mentioned here and on multiple other sites regarding his dismissive and disinterested manner, his arrogance and unwillingness to listen and behave reasonably are all dead accurate. There is a common mood here from the people who feel wronged by this man, and when that many voices yell ""foul"" while touching on the same points, It's time to listen. Every complaint mentioned in these reviews is something we too have experienced firsthand. Hasenauer is arrogant beyond belief, dangerously dismissive, and would serve the community better if he took an early retirement. In my opinion he has no business being a Doctor. more

Definitiely Not in it for the Patient! 8/12/2008

Dr. Kevin Hausenauer was my Mom's doctor for many years. As she developed Alzheimers, I was deeply offended that he mocked her, was utterly indifferent to her fear & confusion, and generally heartless. I didn't move to change her doctor, because she feared someone new even more than his ""attitude"". I came to profoundly regret this when after a fall & deteriorating condition, she was transferred to a nursing care facility. One night she was having trouble breathing, and the staff contacted Dr. H. to come & see her. According to the 'rules' he should already have come when she was brought there initially. He didn't. In his amazingly arrogant way, he told them he wouldn't be bothered coming, and ""if she's that bad send her to emergency"". Not an ounce of genuine caring. I was stunned & furious. Thank heaven the good people in the facility asked one of their two lead physicians to come, and one did. He was profoundly compassionate, and while my Mother passed within a short time, I was so grateful that he responded with such empathy & eased her both her mind & her suffering. What's so horridly lacking in a physician that can't be bothered showing concern & professionalism to a senior - it's disgusting to me. Medicine is not just science - it's also patient care & compassion. One without the other is cold & can be dangerous. A couple of the reviews here refer to him being ""overworked"". I should think that medicine would be One profession in which you wouldn't sacrifice Quality of care for quantity of patients. Imagine being a patient in a helpless state & ask yourself - would you want a doctor that ""can't be bothered""?! Not me. Pros: I'm reviewing the doctor - so None. Cons: Cold, uncaring, and indifferent. Superior attitude and impatient. more

Uncaring 3/2/2007

I am sure Dr Hausenhauer is a good person, but upon seeing him he seems overworked and disinterested. I have not had any major medical problems while under his care which I am thankful for as I felt that he would not care in the least if there was a problem. I have since switched Dr's and that is the first time I have ever done that. The staff were very friendly and the wait time good. Unfortunately I would never recommend him to a friend. more

Caring Doctor 11/6/2006

I have to disagree with the other reviewer. Dr. Hasenauer has been working with me for awhile now. I had to be hospitalized, and he came to see me immediately. My follow-up visits have been excellenet, and he shows concern for my health concerns. While this person evidently had problems with him, I can not say he is a bad doctor. He is knowledgeable, and has been helping me with my health issues. I do agree that the office staff are friendly, and it is well runned! more

Bad doctor 9/13/2006

I wouldn't recommend him for anymore than a case of the sniffles or maybe a rash. He is very over worked and doesn't seem to care too much about his patients. I have had some complex problems and he has done very little to help. His opion if you feel that bad go to emergency. I hope this saves someone else the stress of having to go through all the stuff I have. When you don't feel well its even harder to try and tolerate this behavior. THANK GOD their are many other dr's in Santa Cruz. Pros: Generally not more than a 20 min wait, friendly receptionists and medical assistants Cons: He doesn't have time, he rolls his eyes while talking to you if he doesn't agree, very narrow-minded more
