Great airport with beautiful trees and rocking chairs inside. Lots of open light windows. Decent food options. more

There is no close-in parking. If you're driving your car, allow an extra 45 minutes to make sure there's time to catch a shuttle bus from your lot to the terminal. The closest parking decks are filled up by mid-morning on Mondays and you can search the 5 levels unsuccessfully for an empty space. You may wind up having to pay for driving around as they only allow 10 minutes free time. If you can find a car service, I would pay the money to avoid the inevitable hassles. more

I like the Charlotte Airport. We're there twice a year, on the way to England. On this last trip, Christian picked us up in the ""people mover."" He was fantastic! So friendly and helpful with everyone. He's a true asset! What we HATE about the airport would be the men attendants, almost always black, waiting in the bathroom. It has such a racist feel to it. We find it demeaning and embarrasing for the men. PLEASE...find them other jobs, and stop this slave/master aspect to your airport. more

I contacted the Public Affairs Dept. at the airport because my son's boy scout troop wants to visit. They gave me the following info: ""Yes we do have an Observation Deck, it's called the Airport Overlook and is located off of Old Dowd Road. "" They also sent my a map but I can ad that here. more

I was very interested when I found this on Citysearch because my girlfriend loves watching planes and I would love to have been able to take her up there one night. So I drove out there yesterday after work and ended up driving through 3 of the parking areas and asking the parking attendants on my way out of each where this observation deck was. Not one of them knew what I was talking about. If anyone knows where this is and it can be accessed without buying a plane ticket, please let me know or write about it here. Thanks, more

I have flown into CLT Airport several times from San Francisco where I live. I was born and raised in Lancaster, SC and moved here to California in 1986. I've always been very pleased with Charlotte Douglas Airport as it's staff is friendly, the Airport very well kept and clean. I will be coming home again for 4 days on December 29 thru January 2, 2008 and am looking forward to it. I'm a ""Happy Flyer"".... more

The bartender at the Marketplace restaurant was rude and discriminated against me, a female. I asked for wine at the bar and was told that if I sat at a table, I would have to order from the waitress. A half hour later, a man walked up to the bar, placed an order and the bartender had the waitress deliver it. When I asked the bartender about the different treatment, I was given his back as he told the rest of the patrons that I wasn't worth talking to. I remind myself of the example of Rosa Parks, and will take action. more

This airport is small enough to make your connections in time, but has everything you could want, plus there is 1 security checkpoint for all the concourses. It is also very clean and has some good restaurants and shops. If you have a choice, make your connection in Charlotte. Pros: wide corridors, easy navigation more

Have a connection? Well, be prepared to get a serious workout. Now, maybe this is more error on the airlines than the airport however, I took an US Airways Express flight from Columbus, GA to Charlotte and then another flight from Charlotte to Washington Dulles. Both times my flights were at the farthest point from one another and I had to run in 20 minutes the entire length of the airport. I almost had a heart attack. No one was willing to drive me on the little golf carts or anything..it was quite a run as well with few fast moving sidewalks to aid in my run. I made my connection...I got off of one plane and ran onto the other. Have at least 45 minutes to an hour between flights here. Pros: Inexpensive, Plenty of stores Cons: Not enough seating, construction, Bad layout more
