memorable 1/13/2003

The ambiance was excellent. Must be careful with wine selection as you may experience sticker shock. Overall a great place for the spouse for an anniversary. Pros: lighting Cons: locale more

God eats at Charley's........ 1/12/2003

I have never had a better steak. It was perfectly cooked. After eating at Charley's, I can't see myself eating steak anywhere else. It would be an injustice. And believe me when I say I was a butcher in Ney York for 8 years; so I know my meats..... Price was less than what I expected to pay. I've paid more for less quality. Finally the service was excellent....... Pros: Wait wasn't long, Excellent Meat, Service Cons: Parking its in a mall more

BEST IN ORLANDO 1/12/2003

Combination of food, service and atmosphere make this place your best overall bet in Orlando. Be sure to go to the one on Orange Blossom Trail so your not dissapointed. Pros: Steaks can't be beat, 1st class service Cons: Crowded more

Still Hungry 12/31/2002

We were greeted at the door with a friendly smile, and were asked to wait for 5 minutes while our reserved table was prepared. Upon arriving at the table there were places set for 4 though the reservation was made for 2. The server later removed these additional settings after I moved them to the front of the table. The food was not bad, however, the steak was under-cooked, aspharugus was over cooked and they had no bread until near the end of the meal. Overall, I feel the service is lacking, the food is not to par for the price and the atmosphere is too dark and cramped. Pros: Good Wine List Cons: Poor Value, Service more

come on!!! 12/19/2002

you guys must be joking!!!!! the steaks are terribly oversized which allows them to charge a prem. price for an overrated product... i had the surf and turf. don't get me wrong it was good. the steak was under cooked and the ""Australian"" lobster was dry...i asked the waiter for a steak with no msg ( i'm allrgic) he told me no problem, but almost all the food containsmsg in it one way or another... wine list was good and reasonibly priced...thre rerst. was too dark probally making it herded to read the prices and the bill at the end of dinner... will i go back??? probally everyone deserves a second chance... until then i will stick to del friscos!!! Pros: hugh portions, good place to drop $$ Cons: overated, to dark, out dated more

Way overrated 12/19/2002

Food is average at best, decor is bordering on shabby and prices are way too high. more

Best on the planet... 12/14/2002

A friend suggested visiting Charley's, having just returned from vacationing in Florida (we're from Portland, OR); we took the advice and discovered the best steak dinners and service we've ever had. It was worth the airfare just to experience Charley's, something we did twice in a week. If you find yourself in Florida, forget Disney - do Charley's, a magic kingdom of steak! Pros: Excellent service, Excellent portions, Superb presentation Cons: Only four stores more

unBULLievable 12/10/2002

My husband, I, and three sons had been to a theme park all day, we where tired, sweaty, and dressed in shorts and t-shirts. Looking for a real meal we happened into Charlie's. When we walked in, we spotted the host and all the waiters in just short of tuxedos. Hubby looked at me and said ""Is there a dress code?"" Brfore I could say a word the host said ""You are dressed just fine, party of five?"" The service was excellent, and the steaks and desserts where out of this world. We visit Charlies every time we are in florida. more

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 12/10/2002

Superb, delightful, filling, wonderful service and I could go on and on. Even late @ night with a 2 yr old the staff was wonderful and very helpful. The foos and wine absolutely 5 star!!!!!! more

Where's the Beef 12/5/2002

It's at Charley's Steak House of course. The twenty oz. filet is just what I think Heven must be like Kevin E. Sullivan Melbourne Fl. Pros: quality, service, easy to get to Cons: none, none, none more

Good Meat 12/3/2002

We've been going to Charley's on S.O.B.T for years. The steaks are very good. The salad bar is pretty ordinary but acceptable. For a carnivore the salad is not the main event anyway. We have found the wait staff to be very responsive and the decor is funky and comfortable. The desserts are wonderful and excessive. Most of our dessert comes home in a box. I have two minor complaints. First the boxes of wine stacked in almost every aisle are somewhat annoying and obstruct traffic at times. Second the parking situation is less than ideal. It does help that they have valet parking. Of course, they save all the best parking spots for valet parking. All in all we really enjoy eating at Charley's. The beef is very good. Pros: good meat, good service, funky atmosphere Cons: small parking lot, crowded on weekends, aisles obstructed more

Matrix Flashback 12/3/2002

I cant believe any steak house is better. Reminds me of the restaurant scene in The Matrix. Just exceptionaly great steak! Cons: Some noisy areas more

Mmmmm....Steak.... 11/10/2002

hostess was very friendly as were the rest of the staff. The server was great and the food was excellent. A-1 steak sauce has no use in that restaurant. Pros: affordable, good service, good food Cons: crowded more

Best Steak I've Ever Eaten 11/7/2002

I'd heard of Charley's about 5 years before my first visit and it was all I talked about. Our waiter was thoroughly professional, yet still ""loose"" enough to make us feel at home. The food was absolutely without peer. I had the 22oz filet and it was scrumptious. Didn't eat dessert. (After a 22oz filet, who could?) The price was above average ($120 for 3 with no drinks), but well worth it for the quality of food and service. Pros: Great food, Excellent service, Location Cons: Tight seating, A bit pricey more

Yummm!!! 10/24/2002

This is the best food I ever put in my mouth. I had the surf and turf. Awesome! Worth the money. more

mmm...mmm...good 10/24/2002

I went here with a group of about 10, great experience. The steak (a 24 oz NY Strip) was phenomenal! They include a free salad and bread for everyone. Its very easy to work up a big bill with the add ons but the steaks are well priced. Pros: Near Disney, Excellent Steak, Nice Waiter Cons: Slow, Weak Salad more

Mouthwatering beef 10/7/2002

I took my 3 teenage children to this exquisite restaraunt May, 2002 on the last night of our fabulous week long trip. From the moment we entered we were treated like royalty. The staff was extremely helpful in assisting in our wine and dinner choices. It was a PERFECT ending to our sun-filled and exciting vacation. I can't recommend it enough!!! Pros: steaks, ambience, service more

Pure Tourist 10/7/2002

Having frequented at least 85% of the upscale steakhouses in North America, I can only describe my first visit to Charley's as surprisingly disappointing. Not since my last (unfortunate) foray into a used car establishment have I been so relentlessly ""upsold"" on every conceivable item, from potatoes to steaks, and salads to wines. Aparrantly the waitstaff sees every course as a potential deal closing, presenting increasingly expensive options in a most condescending ""don't be a cheapskate"" tone. Our entire party (also quite comfortable on the national steakhouse scene) was profoundly let-down by the experience. Perhaps this bit plays better to the ""Disney World"" crowd, and thus draws strength from negotiating with diners who have already been beat-to-death by the Magic Kingdom. We won't return. Pros: Good beef. Cons: Always upselling more

Have wine! 9/23/2002

The wine list is incredible! The servers are knowledgeable and can recommend a great bottle of wine to compliment your meal. more

touristy take on an old-line steakhouse 8/26/2002

Priced like an up-market steakhouse ($60 - $70 per person with drinks), it fell short of an up-market experience. The host was confused by my request for a table for one, and the server seemed disappointed at a solo diner (presuming a lesser tip?). Bar drinks took inordinately long to get given the modest crowd. The tuna sashimi appetizer was unexpected, good quality, and well portioned for its modest price. The steak was decent, but lacked the flavor and texture of proper dry aging. The steak tasted less of the menu-touted citrus wood grill than of a seasoning-salt rub. Sauteed mushrooms were good; the wedge-cut potatoes were grease-fried (as I like them) but considerably overdone. Servers do upsell but arent overly persistent. Peter Luger in New York is my gold standard so I do a good steakhouse when I find one. This review is for the Kissimmee (192) location. Pros: menu variety Cons: gloomy atmosphere, erratic service more
