Chan's Has Raised Their Prices Twice Since the New Year! 6/22/2008

You can get a much better deal for your money a few blocks N of Chan's, at Yan's Chinese Restaurant. It offers the same specials every day, i.e., for $4.95, you can get pork chow mein, pork fried rice, and sweet and sour pork, two crab puffs, your choice of soup or salad, and Chinese tea. Even if you get carry-out, you still get soup or salad and a Chinese tea bag! The cleanliness of this restaurant and the friendliness of it's owners and waitresses is unsurpassed: they know me by name! \r \r In contrast, Chan's offers a different lunch special each day. It used to be $3.95, but now it's $4.50. It only includes a rice dish and one side. You get soup with it only if you eat in. If you don't like zucchini or you're allergic to it, don't eat at Chan's because they include zucchini (which isn't a traditional Chinese vegetable) in most of their dishes, because it's cheaper for them to buy. Their regular luncheon menu is $5.50, which includes an egg roll. But again, if you eat out, they won't give you soup to go. In either case, they won't give you a Chinese tea bag and usually you're lucky if they remember to include a napkin, let alone a plastic fork in your bag. \r \r Chan's used to be my favorite place until Yan's arrived and I discovered I got far more value for my money: more food and a much friendler wait staff than at Chan's! Also, Yan's has a Senior's Menu at night . You can get a good-sized meal for $5.75 with two sides of your choice, crab puff, and soup (again, you get the soup whether you eat in or out). Chan's evening prices are much more expensive, and they don't offer a Senior's Menu.\r \r I invite all of you to do a comparison, yourselves! Pros: The food is average for a Chinese restaurant, with large portions, but tiy get nore for your money at Yan's Chinese Restaurant, a few blocks north of Chan's. Cons: Chan's is very noisy. Forget trying to find a parking place at lunch hour! more

Great food, great quantities, great prices 1/7/2006

My family loves Chan's. The food is flavorful and amount to get is fantastic. We eat our fill and always take home packed containers of leftovers. Try the garlic chicken or the ginger chicken. Their paper wrapped chicken is fantastic. We travel to eat here and we are always remembered. Very friendly staff and super service. Pros: Food Quantity, Food Variety, Great Prices Cons: Not in Hillsboro, Not in Hillsboro, Not in Hillsboro more
