At approximately 10:15 on Sunday, December 24, 2006, my friend and I walked into Champs sporting goods shop to purchase a basketball for my grandson. We also wanted a jersey with the number 27 on it.
The first clerk we encountered was totally engrossed talking with two teen-aged girls and was laughing and flirting to hard to interrupt him, although we tried to.
The second clerk was literally hanging between two racks, his arms holding onto them and his head dangling down between - we did not want to disturb his rest period so we just decided to browse the store.
As we approached the counter I bumped into a sign that was jutting out just a bit and said, "Ouch, that really hurt!". I had only hit my hand and had only made the remark to my friend; but the young man behind the counter came rushing to my side to make sure that I was alright. I assured him that I was and he immediately fixed the sign so no more accidents could occur. His name was Shawn.
He then asked how he could help us. We told him what we were looking for. He said there were no number 27 jerseys in the store. We then said we needed the best basketball he could recommend for my grandson who is 11 years old and is really trying hard to play seriously. Since I am an old grandmother, I honestly cannot remember the name of the ball, but he picked one out and told me that since I had gotten injured in the store he would give me a 20% discount on it. The ball was more pricey than I intended, but he was such a nice gentleman that I made an additional purchase also.
If I am ever in the need of sporting goods for my grandson again, and I see Shawn in the store - discount or not, I can promise I will go in and buy.
