We ordered 2 patio doors for our upstairs office. The rough openings were an odd size so I priced having custom made doors through Pella, Anderson, etc. Those were going to be approx. $1500 each. I own a contracting buisness (since 1997) that specializes in interior finish work, so I have the ability and considered making the standard size doors work. (Add framework, rework interior and exterior trim, etc) At some point, I considered Champion's advertising of custom building their own windows and doors. What a perfect solution! I scheduled an appt. and was very definitive and very up front with our reasoning to purchase from Champion...I wanted custom built doors made to fit our opening. Why else would I spend $3600 for 2 patio doors?? I wasn't thrilled someone else would be installing them, but they require installation. Wouldn't you know it...Old doors are out and here come 2, standard 5 ft, patio doors up the steps. Hello!!! Where was this miscommunication? As you can imagine, no one wants to step up and admit a mistake (That would be you, Frank) They just want paid in full for a product I specifically did not want. Their stance is we signed a single page contract showing 2, 5 ft patio doors being installed. They're now installed, so pay up. Do not be misled during your in home consultation!! The salesman will shake his head, smile, tell you how happy you're going to be, fully knowing your expectations will not be met! If he was an honest person, he would have stopped at some point during our in home meeting and said..."The doors we'll be providing will be standard 5' doors" Of course, he wouldn't have made a sale
